"We'd like to offer you a scholarship just as soon as we can get you on campus for a visit."

I’m not saying coaches don’t tell kids that. And I’m not saying that kids don’t then tell people/publications they have an offer. But that is not an offer.

Didn't think you could accept a non-committable offer. Guess there are acceptable and non-acceptable non-committable offers.
He isn't going to sign until he visits. has until middle of may to sign so its easy to push back a visit to wait and see what the other options are looking like before you lock him in.

Not trying to be funny, but recruiting is fluid with each side playing some gamemenship. At the time Kofi hadn't signed and January remains questionable. Possible staff felt a little nervous and pushed for a verbal commit. Then they probably said we will get you on campus to sign. Now Kofi signs, Samba reaffirms his staying and we are in play for Holyfield.

Now the staff is probably pushing that official visit until Holyfield OV. At that point they can now deal with a timeline that HF needs to commit or they take Kourma. Also in the background is Tomas and other players. Like a project big but think BU is going to stack the deck with instant impact players.

Is Kentucky going positionless because Johnny Juzang a 5 Star Wing has reclassified too the 2019 class and Kentucky is expected to get him. Lot of wings headed to Lexington and only so many spots on the court.

They played 3 wings a lot with Washington, Herro, and Johnson last season. All those dudes are gone. I'm guessing people are focused on this because of Whitney... I doubt KW is sweating anyone committing. He is the #1 SF in the country. The guys committing now will likely be fighting for his scraps, not the other way around.

Is this possible with Kouma...if we have a spot in 2019 it is you, possible redshirt or low minute development, if not 1 year prep school then 2020 scholarship at Illinois? It seems odd to have a commitment from a player without this or other option in place, someone slides to walk on etc. if their is a possible over recruitment issue. Not sure if Kouma can postpone entering college a year at prep school although I do know many players have done that route.

This staff has had 4 or 5 guys commit and or sign before they ever visited...ADLR, Vesel, Higgs, January, and now Kouma.

Now if they could do the same with the likes of Washington, Herro, and Johnson and sign them in the first round, I would be more than :clappy:.

Good to see the Illini are back involved with Illinois Wolves organization and Christie, Chris Hodges(Schaumburg) and Bryce Hopkins (Fenwick). Sort of different to see an Under Armour team. These are 2021 guys.

Maybe not the best player comp but Holyfield seems like a Brian Randle with reversed shooting and athleticism, i.e. a seemingly better outside shot but significantly less athleticism

Ideally looking at Kofi, Holyfield, and a wing.

Fify bro!

As I posted earlier today, Holyfield is a lock lmao but he is and I am hearing heavy winds are blowing towards Kipper using his exit pass.

We will see if it all goes down, but look for Holyfield to become official on or around May 8th depending on how all the chips fall... Just what I'm hearing, dont shoot the messenger! 🔸🔹🔸🔹

So you compared him to a guy but offered only ways in which they are different.

So he’s tall, skinny, and left handed? Odd to see a player with an outside shot and without freakish athleticism to Randle

Who are Higgins and Tre?
I guess I meant:
Henry Higgins
, fictional character, a professor of phonetics who makes a bet that he can teach Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle how to speak proper English, in George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion. This guy is certainly a position-less player. Or I was distracted and meant Higgs and Feliz.

Yes, it was not worded the best--was trying to make a short post. The similarities are that Randle is listed at 6'8 220 lbs and Holyfield is listed at 6'8 227. Their builds have some similarities in that they are not wide bruiser types. Then the differences are noticeable.

Man has Nimari Burnett had a lot of activity in the last couple of weeks. UCLA offered yesterday and Beilein in to see him today. Arkansas, Alabama and TCU all offer last week.

Just watched Nimari Burnett in a game vs Lamelo Ball’s team. Burnett reminds me a lot of Deron Williams in the way he gets assists all over the floor. Oh, he can shoot, too. I see why BU wants him.
