OK, then. Still holding a thin thread of hope for Tate, I guess. Really like that the staff didn't hand anyone the job. As others have pointed out, that would screw up the culture, big time. That said, I fully expect Fink to secure QB1, at least through the first 4-5 games.

No one on the Illinois side has confirmed his "commitment" though is what i'm saying.

I thought coaches avoid confirming transfers until they get to campus. Look at the Jeff Thomas debacle.

You'd think they'd at least send some sort of tweet about it (even if they don't name him). I don't think we've seen that yet.

I wish I hadn't watched video on USC WR Josh Imatorbhebhe. I like what I saw, thus depressing if he's not an Illini.

As others have alluded to, the Illinois staff has not yet officially announced the Fink transfer. So we could be in a possible situation where the Fink camp jumped the gun on the public announcement. The staff might prefer Stevens & could be waiting to see which school he decides on before officially accepting the Fink commitment.

With our fantastic RBs and underwhelming WRs, our best shot to win games will be to have IW at QB and be the best rushing team in the country, so that's what I am expecting. Air Force and Navy have shown you can win a lot of games that way, and I think Rivers thought we were headed that direction.

An experienced backup QB will make this a less risky strategy, and can help us win a game or two if IW gets banged up during a game. But since we cannot promise a transfer a starting spot, the deal with a lesser talent like Fink makes sense for both parties.

Stevens and Tate?
Really? - not sure these guys are going to improve our outlook - but ok - if you say so.

I just watched tape of Fink throwing at the USC player run practice. He was brutal on the long routes, overthrowing just about every time. Other passes he threw high. None of his stuff was on the money. Then there was the interview after the spring game and he was not exactly glib. A few of his answers to softball questions were Nothing comes to mind. Ugh.
