Why are we using a baseball term for college basketball recruiting? When you apply a term from a completely different sport to how well you're doing in one aspect of a completely different sport, you're going to have people with differing opinions of what that now-useless term means.

It was merely a talking point to spur conversation about the state of our recruiting. Seems to have done the trick.

It's spurring debate because everyone has a different sense of where the Mendoza line is. In baseball the Mendoza line is a hard number, easy to see if someone is above or below it. Recruiting isn't as clear cut as that and IMO we are talking in circles.

1.) Vesel was a bust. Enough said.
2.) I wouldn't call Greg E. was a bust. He actually performed pretty well for his freshman year, considering he was a big (and a low-ranked big fwiw.) I was disappointed when he decided to transfer.
3.) Higgs couldn't play due to a supposed medical condition. I cant call him a bust because of that imo, but I do concede it was a lost year of a scholarship.

I am defining them as busts simply because they transferred out after one year and went down one or several more levels of play to their next team. I was also disappointed when Greg left because I was really looking forward to watching him develop.

So two guys who were taken very late by the staff in their 1st year and one guy that was hurt. O.........K..........

So will your excuse for Kouma if he doesn't pan out be "Well, he was just a flier that Underwood took late in the recruiting cycle"? Because you can't talk out both sides of your mouth.

Now that the Mendoza line talk is slowing down I vote we now relate our recruiting to PER to determine if one top 50 recruit puts us below or above the average.

The only lines I care about are the lines on the basketball court and if our players can make shots behind them.and make our opposition miss them! Lol
