Wait, Lovie is to blame for Roundtree and the ones that were given multiple chances to get it together?

No, Lovie is ultimate responsible for the teams success, even having lost 6+ big 10 caliber starters and one or more potential nfl picks. Had we had those players, I would be much more confident in a 6-8 win season.

I believe he is here but, according to the strength coach, not working out with the team.
I listened to Saturday Sports talk this morning and yes, Hernandez said he (Peters) was not working out and he didn’t really know what was going on with him. Kind of shocking that only one of the other transfers is here working out too. Seems like this would be a really important time for them to get acclimated to the system if they are going to be major contributors as we all hope.

I told myself I wasn’t going to panic until after the BBQ, but this wobble is starting feel like the wheels are falling off. There must be some good news out there somewhere, right? Right?!?!

The funny thing about lovies tenure is that every time we look, things are on their way to greatness or the wheels are falling off.

If the wheels fall off, we can’t do anything about it. If we are on our way to greatness, we aren’t doing anything about it. So really we gotta trust and let things play out. I’ve heard that Peters has been working in passing and routes. That may be incorrect, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he is taking some time away from the weight room as a qb

I just find it sad that we're consistently in a worse position than Minnesota and Indiana - in Football.

I wouldn't put us over anyone in the West either, except for maybe Minny. That doesn't mean this team can't beat the three non-cons, Rutgers at home, and eke out two more wins against conference foes to go bowling.

Team is going to have to prove it on the field. And I think it is going to come down to the defense. Offense was decent enough to win us six games last year, but for the defense, and should be good enough again. If Lovie's defense still stinks after four years, why would he deserve a fifth year?

Literally, all 34 writers picked us last. Ouch. I don't think even our most pessimistic posters are that pessimistic. Won't take much to beat expectations.
Some of those folks would be Illinois reporters. It seems that prospects view us in much the same way.

I agree with a lot of your post, I wouldn’t pick us over anyone with maybe minn being the exception. But they had flashes last year which showed they are also improving. The defense was just too awful last year to make me feel any confidence that we have a shot to finish above last.

Man,

+120 for picking the under on 7.5 for Minnesota? Sign me up!

Also, as much as I want Lovie to succeed the fact that I can just as easily come up with a scenario of 4 wins as I can 5 wins disappoints me.

Yeah but that u8.5 on PSU is so easy.

3 out of 4 grad transfers currently on the roster. Anybody know if we should be concerned about Sidney?

Here is another writeup. Regardless of what the board thinks, I still think this team is trending up. The atrocious losses last season can be attributed to injuries and depth. Some of the worst positions on the roster are trending up, very quickly. We have plenty of speed coming in at the positions of need. The secondary is improving. The Linebackers are solid and deep (hopefully they can run Lovie's scheme) and improving. The offensive line lost some important pieces (like Boyd), but were projected to be in great shape. The defensive line is something to be excited about. The Defensive ends lost Roundtree, which will be tough, but I think we have some talent to replace him (not fully, but some of his production will be covered. Non-football, I hope he is recovering well). Receivers are receiving an influx of talent and we already have Jadon Thompson committed. I think we will see a few more big receiver commits. Although we got beat, very bad, this past season, I think the talent level is increasing and the positions are getting better. Many of the positions are still young, but next year, I think this team is good and we have plenty of talent for the years following.

No one is questioning if this team will be more talented than the teams we fielded through 2015-2018.

The question is, will that translates to wins? That comes down to the coaching and scheming.

I appreciate the optimism. I was starting to wonder about the under 4.5....
