It's obviously late in the summer but any chance the staff tries to grab a last second 5th year or 19 big to fill Samba's spot? After Kofi and Giorgi the depth is rough.
Here is a really good comprehensive list for both 5th year and sit out transfers. Some familiar names. Best option is DJ Williams, no joke. Tillman also listed. Besides that, some SG. About 150 names.

With 2 spots open, I think the answer is clearly yes they will want to and will try.

I think the real questions are:
1) What options are available or can we dig up this late in the game
...In theory both Tillman & Patterson are still out there, but we are starting to look like their plan "B/C" options. The good news is we seem to specialize in late/off the radar recruiting, so I wouldn't count the staff out on finding someone none of us have heard of.
2) What is the bar we are willing to reach to.
...There is some value in having 1 open mid season to be able to play in that transfer market, but with 2 open the bar to fill one more spot probably isn't that high, think Matic or Higgs
3) At the end of the day, as fans does this hypothetical addition offer enough potential we really care.
...yet to be seen, but there is a good chance at this point that we reach deeply & it really adds little value to the roster

I’m not really a fan of these types of late additions. Most are plan D-F. I’m also not a fan of carrying over scholarships. So that leaves me at pushing harder for 1 or 2 plan B guys to sign early. Guys that have a decent chance to turn into a player in year 2 or 3.

Underwood is still building, but I hope we can take the next step which means not settling for guys that are just filling open roster spots because we have no one else.

I can live with keeping 1 open given the quality of players we seem to be in on for 2020, but leaving 2 open could hurt this year.

I think you can say leaving one open, if you thought you had a legit shot at Patterson and/or Tillman is a reasonable strategy and again it gives you a chance to play in the mid year transfer market if someone falls into your lap. You can probably write off the 2nd one as losing Kane late & unexpectedly...the problem is it is looking more like a pattern & for the last 2 years are fall hit rate has been bad, this puts a lot of pressure on spring/summer and we have reached more than you would like to. On the plus side, the 1 yr trend on players leaving early looks much better & this helps.

I think the best option is to re recruit samba. Might not be possible, but I think this is a no or limited contact period, hopefully can persuade. Ask if anyone has reached out to him lol (if it’s not possible yet). Or maybe no suitors of interest once live period begins??? Grasping for straws. He’ll probably announce a destination tomorrow with my track record.

Here's the legwork for you: Last of the Transfer "Bigs" listed that can play right away, AND have not picked a future school as of todays date.

Moustapha Diagne 6'9" no new school as of yet
Marek Hulva 6'9" -
, last workout similiar to this one turned our pretty good for us?
Dosan Kovacevic 6'10" -
Demola Onafida 6'9" -
Patrick Szpir 6'9" -
Jethro Tshisumpa Mbiya 6'10"
Jalen Williams 6'8" -

According to 24/7 Basketball - The highest rated "Big" uncommitted is at #180 Mahamadou Diawara? Carl Lewis, who I believe we offered at one time is at #188, looks to be small college/juco though? Otherwise, the staff will need to go more international, probably carry one over?
Great breakdown. Which of those guys is going to be able to rebound and block out defensively the best? Non of them appeared to be showcasing any defensive ability in their highlight reels which I have to assume is playing a role in them still being available.

Thank you, Mbiya would be best of these guys from defensive standpoint, that said, I don't think the team would go after any of them...better to carry over imo.
