Hilarious gyms for college basketball, here is how they do it in West Michigan

Hope and Calvin College, both D3
One could argue that a DIII school in Normal has a HOF NBA post player as good as any we ever had in the post and would gave loved to have had. I'm excited about what I see in this kid plus if nothing else he can shoot FTs at the end of games! Lkl

I read that as “if ayo leaves, Trent rotates to point and Hutchison handles the ball primarily as a shooting guard but adds ball handling ability also.” And less that he’d be the starting point for the team with 28+ minutes.

Hey all, been a while, but haven’t had anything to add to the convo! Be on the lookout for a 2019 project big from Lincoln, Jermaine Hamlin. Most likely a red shirt. Hasn’t been playing basketball long, but at 6’10”, worth a flyer on a project.

We should probably temper our expectations here. He could be a solid player, but a Division III transfer is not likely to be a star in the Big Ten. I mean, most D I mid-major transfers we get end up being pretty average (at best) Big Ten players, and D III is a huge step down from mid-major.

Or he could be the next Devean George :D

Is he no longer planning on attending prep school??

I think he reclassified for 2020 in hopes of better future offers. Well, here's that offer. Maybe he'll change his mind. Smart move by the kid to wait it out like this.

Love that he's going to be practicing, learning and working with Fletch for a year before he's unleashed. New guards corps off to a good start. C'mon, Miller!

Why would Adam Miller still want to come to U of I when we now have a scoring guard who will have been in the program for a year? I suspect Hutcherson going to scare off some of our prime recruits.

2. I agree we'll probably miss on both Kalkbrenner and Addison Patterson. Kalkbrenner is going to be looking at Giorgi + Kofi and isn't going to see minutes available until his 3rd season.

Why would he not see minutes? I would think that with Kane leaving, it opens the door for him to step in and be the first big off the bench as a freshman. None of us know what we have in Kouma, yet. Plus, it seems to me that Kalk's defensive ability puts him ahead of what we have seen in Kouma's limited highlight clips.[/QUOTE]
And from what everyone is saying kofi may be 1 and done

Adam Miller is worried about beating out a D3 transfer?
Can we call him Austin or AH instead of D3 transfer? He had offers from Maryland, ND and other solid teams. He can clearly play. Many dissed GB or vcd undervalued a Juco transfer in Feliz as I recall. Let's not do it again to Austin. I don't think Adam Miller is worried about beating to many players. He is very good and there us room for both of them.

A hidden benefit to filling out the roster with these guys is that we’ll finally have enough players to make complete practice teams. It’s bound to help everyone improve. I ‘m more impressed by this staff each day.

We're on an uptrend, staff's getting their mojo working. It's way too early to make a call, but I have a good feeling about Hutcherson and BBV. Staff seems to leave no stone unturned on their quest for talent. If we can get Miller in the fold, that will be huge, not just for the team, but also, recruiting-wise. Would be a major statement to get all of our plan A guys in the fall (hey, a guy can dream, amirite?).

FWIW, I don't think Hutcherson will be a deterrent for Miller, whatsoever.

I still see us adding 4-5 more guys for 2020. 3 spots currently opening, and anticipating Ayo gone and/or a transfer

Agreed, didn’t Max Strus just provide an example of a guy who can buck the odds. D2 to a very, very good D1 2 years, to an NBA roster. Obviously there outliers in basketball compared to other sports, but certainly not unheard of for guys to start lower and have solid college careers in D1

Those are decent-sized gyms for D3 schools. Larger than IWU’s anyway.

I must admit, these are big time D3 schools that compete for national championships in various men and women sports. A lot of money behind them from outside sources to have tremendous facilities. Certainly not the norm for most D3 programs, but I couldn’t help but share their arenas:)

Recruits and their families/coaches aren't going to push them towards programs that are unstable, and struggling with identity and culture.
We finally have no issues with those things and can focus on winning. They will come, they will most definitely come.

With Kane gone I like the idea of taking a flier on a 6’10 jumping jack, even if he’s raw. We need more tall guys like this for practice at the least. Get a group out there that can actually guard a Kofi/Giorgi combination with their height/length. And guys who provide some semblance of rim protection when our guards drive in, to help them get game style challenges at the rim.

I don't want to give anyone a scholarship for practice. Maybe take a walk on for practice. I hope we are still after Kalbrenner but the staff has done much better after the first year handing out schollys. That first year was rushed. I hope players we recruit going forward can legitimately challenge for playing time.
The kid from Bloom is gotten a lot of attention lately correct? Are we in on him?
