Pregame note: Fighting Illini senior Andres Feliz & freshman Kofi Cockburn will not join the team in Italy due to visa issues that were unable to be resolved.

Feliz is in the Dominican Republic while Cockburn is in New York. They will return to the U of I campus at the same timeline as their teammates, prior to the start of fall semester classes which begin Aug. 26.

Man, if Griffin is a difference maker this year, this team can do big things.
It's a great sign, but I might temper things a little given level of competition expressed by BU. But if they can design plays to get him open shots, it sounds like the offense is slowing down for him. What's the adage: The best thing about Freshmen, . . .

Does Verdonk not get to play on this trip? Didn't think he had any stats yesterday. Williams too?

Just catching up on this Visa problem, and in my opinion it is totally inexcusable for them to be stranded en route. Struggling to secure a Visa prior to departure, and attempting to resolve any issues en route are two totally different scenarios. I have no idea what the circumstances are for the other schools.

A quick search yielded plenty of information in just a couple minutes. It's very clear who is required to apply, what that process is, and the time frames involved.

No excuse for this. It's an embarrassment for the entire DIA. Let's not forget that these are kids still, and they're missing on a trip they can't just make up for on their own. Someone is collecting a paycheck, and it was their responsibility to book this trip, and make these arrangements, and they failed. If the DIA put this responsibility on someone who isn't familiar with booking international travel, then this is Whitman's fault, and I sympathize with the employee along with the players.

Yes it looks all easy when you look it up on Google. In practice, things don't always work out the way they're supposed to. Last fall, my girlfriend booked herself and her US born son on a trip to China to see her family there. His visa got rejected, over complete BS reasons on the embassy's end. It was too late to reapply by the time she found out. So sometimes these things are just out of your hands.
