Not enjoying our current status with top guys (top ~75 types), but it is what it is. That said, loving our staff's ability to glean talent from any and all avenues.

"IF" we get Miller after Kofi, based on where we still are (appearance wise to recruits) I think that really isn't bad. That said, yes I want the Top 75-50 guys also....then we will be back!

No, it isn't bad. And considering what's transpired for the past ~10+ (!) seasons, it's pretty good. The arrow is pointing up. But, heck yes, it could be a whole lot better. Hopefully, this season will go a long way towards restoring our station as a recruiting destination.

Fully expecting us to land Miller. Special circumstance. Are you satisfied w/our current cachet WRT top 75 guys?

Considering we are 9 games under 500 with BU so far, we have only made 1 NCAA tournament appearance since 2012 and we have Ayo, Kofi, and possibly Miller on the way. I actually think we have gotten what we deserved based on where we are at?

I think our staff has exceeded our current status, WRT recruiting top 75 kids. But there's no doubt, we have massive potential for growth.

We're doing fine. I think it's fair to say Hutcherson is equivalent to that "top 75" tier considering he already has experience playing college ball and had solid offers.

I really do believe this year is going to be a turning year for us. I think landing Miller to replace Ayo is crucial for the next couple of years in terms of not really losing too much productivity and showing there is a method that works for guys getting to the NBA through Illinois. We will begin winning more, and as stated on here many times, that changes everything. The momentum is coming. Our "wheel" is hopefully getting closer to the edge.

Waukegan
Donovan "Puff" Johnson has eliminated Illinois from his final seven list which is, Arizona, Louisville, Miami, NC, ND, Ohio State, and PIttsburgh. I though I saw or read somewhere that he was showing interest in Illinois. Guess not.

Not sure how anybody can be satisfied with only 2 players in the top 100 among 4 recruiting classes.

You're right. No satisfaction whatsoever from some bum named Giorgi. Allen Griffin looks pretty unsatisfactory and Tevian Jones shows no potential. Your darling Feliz is also not worth a lick.

I don't think he was saying he isn't happy with any of our players. Just that at Illinois, we should probably be able to secure a few more top 100 players. And obviously, guys outside that 100 can be good. And we know that there isn't a big difference usually in say the 75th ranked player and the 110th, but in general, you have better success rate with the more top 100 players you have on your roster.

Point being that recruiting rankings are hardly correct on guys. Weber had any number of top 100 guys and how'd that turn out after '06?

Hardly correct?? I've seen some data posted on here of the correlation of success and having higher ranked players on your roster. I'm more surprised that the rankings are as close as they are at being correct. I will point out again, that I know there are exceptions to the rules, so I don't need examples of that.

My post (that you replied to) has absolutely nothing to do with Hutcherson.

Great strawman

Look, he asked how anyone can be satisfied with only 2 top 100 players in 4 recruiting classes. I see I misinterpreted that, and it is important to land those caliber players. We're not exactly a prime destination for top 100 players these days though. All things considered we have solid talent in place.
