Uh, who is this "we" you are talking about?

I did not realize how difficult it is to get a Visa.
I have never applied for one, have you?
And based upon many commentors here, it would appear that it is a combination of us and them.

I will aver that our DIA had been diligently working this issue for the past 6 months (pick your time frame) to get it resolved, and as others have theorized, the kids went to Miami in case a last minute resolution was finalized one way or another.

I will also aver that after the team gets back and the dust has settled, Josh W will give a presser to explain more of the details of what actually happened.

I will fault the DIA for not pursuing an obvious Plan B. That being that the women's team is currently in Australia. Kofi and Andres could have easily hopped on a plane for Aussie land, grabbed a couple of wigs, and showed up to play for the women's team. In this day and age, who would have noticed?
I have applied for visas to China, Russia, & other countries. The last one in Russia was for the Olympics in Sochi and was very difficult. I started early and worked hard all the way up to just weeks before the travel dates. I know what it takes and did my homework to get it done. How about you?

Just a very, very good report on Day 3 in Italy. This should be mandatory reading for any Illini fan. It sheds a lot of light on the situation over there. Excellent job Rob. Thanks for speaking the truth!!

"Last year, people didn’t get to know Tevian as well as they might, were it not for 1933’s cult classic Reefer Madness, and the McCarthyism it engendered among Americans. Fortunately, a violation of team rules is now legal in Illinois, and the NCAA should adapt to the new legal landscape within a quarter-century, judging by their previous progressive acumen." lol

I appreciate the hard work, but I don't care for the cynical nature of the illini report. In regard to the visa incident it may be warranted, but in general I don't want my sports news in the tone of smug investigative reporter. Too much of this in my world already. I like kool-aid too sometimes...

Your best source for kool-aid is right here.:)

Just noticed that the "Livorno All Stars" beat a decent Division 1 team (SFU) on Wednesday night and should prove to be a better test for the Illini.

Am I the only one who's really enjoying these reads? I think he's highlighting the positives (AG, Tav, Ayo) while giving unbiased criticism where is's warranted (DIA dropping the ball) all while painting an entertaining picture (Reefer Madness, Amanda Knox reference) while maintaining at least a loose professional courtesy (excluding BU's beer stories). I think these are perfect for an informal off season trip.

We definitely need scoring. We were 83rd in the country on offense according to Kenpom. I'd rather have a guy on the court that can defend, rebound, and score. Hopefully we can find that guy. Damonte's minutes being reduced could only be a good thing for the team.
We were 108th on defense per Kenpom. DW can rebound, play defense, and doesn't turn the ball over. Don't think he is a starter but he is a valuable piece.

Yeah, when McColley's in Good Rob mode, he's very good. Dude can write.

Agreed, at least we are getting some media coverage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only other media coverage over there wants people to pay for information. No Chicago coverage at all. I hope winning brings the media back.

If, as it appears, Tevian and AG have performed better than DMW, he will be relegated to a 9th or 10th man role, however it is still too early for minutes breakdown.

I've been interviewed by McColley. Took me by surprise haha. But I enjoy his videos even if they can be awkward. I tend to enjoy his writings more.

A bit off topic, but Rob's reporting is kind of self funded isn't it?
