My bad!!!! SFU is in Division 2 and so the Livorno All Stars did not beat a division 1 team.

You were right the first time. They are Division 1 Northeast Conference along with Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth (remember when people wanted King Rice to replace Groce :ROFLMAO:), etc

Are they playing 40 minute games? Or 15 minute quarters? The way they’re reporting quarterly scoring makes me think it’s a 60 minute game which accounts for the higher scoring and many more possessions per game.
10 minute quarters

Jones 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals and a block.
Griffin 14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks
Williams 2 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals

We can talk all we want about poor competition, but Damonte is playing in the same game as everyone else. Griffin or Jones needs to start at the 3, and let Damonte spell 15~20 minutes at the 2/3 off the bench. Love what he does all-around, and love that the coaches and us fans can trust him but if we want to make a real jump this season we need more productively on offense from the wing.

Stats don’t talk about defense. If griffin and Jones can stay between the ball and the basket as well as DMW then 100% they will take most of his minutes. But if he’s a better defender he will still get 15+ min per game.

I doubt if DaMonte starts any games this season. However, he will be in the regular rotation, not because of what anyone else does, but solely based on what he brings to the table.

It's so refreshing to see someone in an illini jersey finish above the rim. Thank you Tevian!

I know Tev had some awesome highlights. He did struggle from three. He needs to and I think he can get better. The person I've been most excited about how he improved is AG.
It also really sucks because the two guys I wanted to see play were Kofi and Verdonk.

AG caught a nasty oop from Kipper late in game 2. Little Italian kids sitting on the floor fell down on the background.

16/9 assist/TO ratio is just outstanding. Also 19 steals (don't know if this is typo or just a generous scorekeeper or real) was just 1 short of school record set in 1978 and again in 1987. Also, Tevian Jones individual 5 steals comes just 1 short of making the all time top 10 list. For you historians, Bruce Douglas holds the record with 8 back in 1984.

Hello guys! Hope you remember me. It's been a while as I've been watching from afar. Just a few thoughts I have...

1 - I keep seeing all this talk about Da'Monte not scoring. Da'Monte can shoot it and score. He's a team player, and has a great basketball I.Q. If he can be like the next Roosevelt Jones, I'm all for it. Jones was an unorthodox player at Butler, yet he could fill up the stats and I liked his game.

2 - I know the competition in Italy hasn't been the best so far, yet I'm encouraged from what I've seen. I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Really liked what I've seen from AG and Tev. The one thing I'm impressed with is Ayo's three point shot development. It has developed nicely.

3 - Finally, I want to give a shoutout to one of the Illini managers. His name is Macklin Snyder, and some of you may know him. He's from my hometown and I'm proud of that boy. Helped lead the Manager's team in their championship run last year. I saw a few photos of Mack in Italy as he's helping out the team. Brought a smile to my face.

That's all I've got to say for now. Go Illini!

I'm sure in November, when he's setting the starting lineup, BU will go straight to the four month old tape of the Italy games to see who should start at the 3.

Good to hear from you again, Captain. We've missed you. Agree that DW will be an important facilitator/contributor this year. If we set expectations properly, we should be happy for his 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 assists and 3 points/game. We have scorers and Da'Monte can help the offense flow through them while scoring himself just enough o keep the defense honest.

1. I made a previous post comparing Damonte to AG and TJ. I love Damonte, we know he can score, pass, rebound, and is one of, if not our best perimeter defender. But, that’s what makes him frustrating to watch at times. He has all the tools to be a breakout player. We all believe in him and know what he’s capable of, is it too much to ask to see Damonte score the ball?

2. AG and Tev IMO are trying to show out right now. There’s a lot of expectations for them to make that jump. I think they are both using this trip to show the staff, and the fans that they are ready for big time minutes. That being said, I would take these games with a grain of salt. Not just because the competition hasn’t been great, but because I think these guys see these games as a tryout. They are both competing with Damonte for that 3 spot. Going back on my previous statement, Damonte has all the tools and anyone with eyes can see that. Damonte knows what he can do, and I expect big things from him, but I need to see him prove in games that he can be that guy.

3. The managers, from what I’ve seen, have gone above and beyond expectations. From the ground up, this program is in good hands. This is the year we make a jump and they deserve credit for getting us there!

I’m sure that they won’t. But I need to see Damonte be more aggresive. That’s all I’m saying, he’s got the tools and he is a major piece to this team no doubt, but I need to see him score the rock more consistently and look to score more on fast breaks, on the pinch post screens etc.

I also would like to see DW play more like Dre and take it to the basket but we tend to look at starters and I believe BU looks at rotations. He is going to play 8/10 players and he doesn't want to give up anything when subbing. Those patterns will be very different this year with the addition of Kofi and the development of Tevian and Alan. They are all going to a lot of playing time but it will depend on matchups and the hot hand IMO.

Underwood used 9 different starting lineups last year and 10 in his first year. I see no reason that this year would be any fewer than the 9 or 10.

Aren’t people saying the exact same thing about Kipper?
