Dusted off an old Illini T-shirt to wear today. This alum has been waiting for something to get excited about for what feels like a decade. And we start so few seniors, we might actually be real good next year.
Time to buy new, too.

I think we are a 7-5 team or an 8-4 team. I also think we have as good a chance to win the West as anyone. I do not think that many West teams have strong enough defenses to stop the our offense and I truly believe our defense is totally different from last year and new and improved. Yes the defense scrambled early because no one knew what to expect from the new coach at Akron. We also took our foot off the gas. I think posters are giving too much credit to Neb, NW, Minn and even Wisc. Illinois is the only team in the west that is greatly improved. I think many posters are focusing too much on last year or the preceding season. This ain't your 2018 or 2017 Illini team. There's a new sheriff in town, and his name is 2019/2020 Lovie Smith. Recognize
Btw I believe the West winner will be either Wisconsin or the Illini. I am focusing on 2019 and not 2018.
ESPNU Radio was talking up Wisc this morning as the leader and downplaying Nebbie and Minny (sounds like a cartoon). General takeaway was that teams that were successful against them last year stacked the box to stop Taylor and now they think they are moving Taylor around to get him the ball in space if need be. QB passing is not a strength and QB will be asked to just be serviceable. All not my words, but their take.

Staff can't be pleased about that. He's had a year to address his stamina and strength.
I can’t imagine it’d be a stamina issue that kept him out of a blowout. If that was the case you’d think they’d want him in there to build that stamina up. My guess is he got caught doing something off the field, but who knows Lovie will never elaborate on something of that nature. I guess we’ll know this week if he travels with the team or not

If you were at the game Saturday and watched Calvin waddle off the field, you know where the problem lies.

Two years ago, they asked Vederian Lowe to lose about 40 pounds of fat and put on 20 of muscle and he did. Calvin hasn't had that epiphany yet.

The only thing that's going to stop Avery from making millions is himself (barring injury, of course).

So six wins and we go bowling? Theoretically, right now we have those six wins, if you use BTN's power ranking. Assume that we win our three non-con games, that's three. (Yes, I can do math, sorta).

Then with Illinois ranked 10th, we're ahead of Minnesota, Rutgers and Purdue, who we play, and Indiana, who we don't. Making the obviously rash assumption that we win those games where we're power ranked ahead, that's six games.

The if you add the Orange Koolaid power factor, we beat Nebraska and Northwestern, that's eight. Now spike that Koolaid and we win our other two HOME games (Michigan and Wisconsin), that's ten. Take the Orange LSD (but not the brown acid, it's not specifically too good) and we go to Iowa, wave to the kiddies and win, and Spoorty is overranked. We can win that one.

So yeah, 12 wins and we go bowling for sure.

Why stop there?

I mean, let's pretend like the koolaid isn't even koolaid anymore, and just straight up heroin. We play OSU in the B1G championship, and pull a 2007. Now we're 13-0. If things go our way, we might get invited to the playoffs. Or, we might get Luke Forded.

Catch 'Bama in their first down week in two and a half decades, and we squeak by them. Clemson in the championship? Easy. Never played a Tigers team I don't think we could beat.

Easy 15-0 season ladies and gentlemen.

Never saw Calvin watching the game on the big screen so figured he wasn’t dressed, but damn that’s disappointing to hear. Nothing worse than seeing players not live up to their potential

Illini up to 79 on CBS top 130 up 22 spots! I think NIU is around 77 though so let's not get too ahead of the train.

Trotter said on the radio yesterday that Calvin was wearing a Scout Team jersey for practice.... Staff is not to pleased with his efforts

I feel like this has all the makings of a transfer out.

Why would they put him in a game if he hasn’t put in the work to practice the right way?
