I think his reference was to total enrollment not percentage of enrollment, which is correct. The U of I has the second largest.

Open Doors is THE source that Universities report their enrollment statistics to and look to for statistics and trends related to international education. The most recent available statistics are from 2018. Arizona State had the highest international enrollment among public universities, but only 14 more than Illinois. I know Illinois’ numbers are higher this year, so those rankings could change. Among all universities, public & private, Illinois was #6.

Deivon Smith a 4* PG is CB to Louisville by many 100% in fact....wonder how that affects the many other recruits, as the same schools have been favored in the past with them. Does Smith going to L-Ville affect Love/Burnett/Miller/Steward for us?

Better get used to it. Illinois has the second largest international enrollment among public universities in the US. It's only fitting that the basketball team reflect that.

Oh I’ve got no problem where they come from. I just want guys that can contribute on the court. I think it’s comical listening to some of the announcers struggle with names because they clearly haven’t done homework before a game. See: Bezhanishvili, Vesel when he was here, Dosunmu, Kofi....

As with Ayo, how we feel about our current class is very heavily dependent on landing one kid (not exactly a penetrating observation). It will be nice to get to a point where we're not so reliant on landing one kid.

It's not just the international players' names though. How many announcers had problems with Meyers Leonard?

You mean Miles? The funny thing is his wife's name is Elle, but it's pronounced "Ellie," so I guess it runs in the family. I wonder how often they get called Miles and "El."

Right? Do your homework! Pretty sure all the programs supply pronunciation guides when needed.

I think we are moving in that direction. Groce epitomied the all in on one recruit. BU seems to have better plan B-Z. Giorgi was probably our 10th option at big. Verdonk also looks and sounds like a gem. It would be nice to start landing multiple first choice players.

Win, baby. Just win.
