This was the one - I had thought it was still in the wardrobe as an option. But if not, oh well - its not the first change that is Syracusy in nature. Probably answers the other question of why the TM on orange-white-orange (SU perhaps? ;) ). I just feel like we bought SU's unis at a garage sale and would at least like something a bit different that what they had.

The new orange is pretty meh especially in a base helmet like the one Corbin wears.
The office that handles trademarks thinks it owns the colors orange and blue. The TM is to make sure that no one makes something that looks like an Illini football jersey, at least without paying the university its rather hefty licensing fee.

That said, I'm going with B-O-B for the game tomorrow.

Boy we are confident. Like I woke from a long nap and we have become Ohio State. We should win because Connecticut is very bad but I don't think it is a slam dunk.

Would it be a slam dunk if we went on the road to play a good-but-not-great 1AA team? That's basically what UConn is, and that might be generous given that they really struggled at home with a pretty bad 1AA team last week.

I'd agree with the point "hey, it's a road game, those are tough in college football". What we shouldn't do though is pretend UConn is something that they aren't.

No Britishisms in this here B1G football thread, pal.

This made me self-conscious, and resulted in this monstrosity of a sentence:

What we shouldn't do though is pretend UConn is something that they aren't.

Fahrenheit is better than Celsius, we're the ones pronouncing aluminum right, but the Brits are correct about pluralizing team names.

Until we have been good at both sports for like three years straight, uninterrupted, there will ALWAYS be people trying to “bring us back down to Earth” whenever there is optimism. It’s understandable, but it’s unfortunate.

Or, alternatively, reason and evidence should guide expectation levels objectively at all times.

Lol, the answer lies in moderation. :) We beat a bad Akron team by a lot more than we all thought, and while that win alone shouldn’t raise expectations too high ... we SHOULD beat a bad UConn team, even at their place.

I said that...but I think maybe it's 90% chance we win and maybe 60% we cover.

Is it just me - or did the videos (showing their O and D) posted from Robert's site look like the teams were moving in 3/4 speed? If that was full speed playback, we beat them pretty big on speed alone.

It's also logical to be confident that we'll crush Uconn but at the same time realize that we may very well finish near the bottom of the B1G once again.

I thinks it's prudent to mind the gap in our differences...

I cant believe UCONN is so bad that they are giving away tickets....you have to be desperate to give deep discounts like that...

After his playing career, Red Grange did a bunch of broadcasting work. Fans loved him, though sometimes critics got on him for occasionally speaking in a manner that wasn’t proper (at least in the U.S.)

One of his habits was to say “the team ARE coming on the field.”

When a sportswriter brought it up to his partner, the partner defended Red by saying that’s how they say it in England.

The sportswriter cracked back, “But Red didn’t go to Oxford. He went to Illinois.”

I'm playing in a memorial golf outing for a fallen Marine captain tomorrow in Spring Valley. May not get to check score of Illini-Uconn, but I bet someone will know what's happening in E. Hartford; 'cause the farther south you go (me from DeKalb), in my experience, the thicker the Illini fans. That's why I love central Illinois.

ILLINI win; don't pull a Bears' thing. Be ready. I hope you will be.

They can make the discount deeper: Pay people to come.

That said, I wonder if the UConn know that a lot of Illini are coming and they were afraid of more Illini Orange in the stands than Husky blue. I bought my tickets from the UConn athletic department, and I got two phone calls from them asking what my connection with the university is (he wanted to sell me more UConn tickets) and of course, I told the caller that I was Illini. I'm sure that they called everyone who bought tickets and I'll bet most who bought single tickets were Illinois fans.
