And Izzo defended Nassar and actively covered up the rape. MSU has a clear institutional problem, and Izzo is right in the thick of it. He's a good coach and a terrible human being. He's filth cut from a worse cloth than guys like Coach K. Paying players is unethical, not immoral.

If you don't think there's recruiting dirt on Izzo, look no further than the Mateen Cleaves recruitment. Izzo started out dirty. Btw, Mateen Cleaves is also up on rape charges.

Not Guilty for Cleaves, despite eyewitness and motel surveillance.

If North Carolina got a free pass for their shenanigans (and they did) don’t look for any major hammer drops on this one.
I am sick of the select few being allowed to cheat and prosper and it has negatively effected the amount of money/time I spend on college athletics.

I agree with your point but with the FBI being involved it will give pause to the shoe companies and Universities. The hustlers out to make a buck will try and do what they can to get that money but the big money players will figure a way to protect their interest in my opinion. A nicer stipend or all eligible for NBA draft for basketball, maybe allow free trade and let players get compensated for product licensing? Improved NBA "minor league" to allow players to earn income with their skills?
The current system is bad and seems the rich keep getting richer. Not sure if this me feeling sour grapes but seems playing field isn't level.

NoCanAttackA Blue Blood.....seems like this fits better to me.

By the way has everyone seen the new ACC commercial from ESPN? Everyone in the ACC has a new home....ACCN, just saw it last night....hmmm no partiality here huh?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the ILLINI "yet" deserve that type of hype, and maybe not even the B1G as a whole, since it has been 19 years since we could claim a NCAA champion I think....Maryland wasn't in the league in 2002, so MSU in 2000 was our last. This stated however there are many schools would could/deserve to get more TV exposure.

“It is. Like I said, $40,000 to do that was totally extreme. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I would not do it. I'd try to barter something. I'd give blood. I'd give semen, something.”

This one is really going to cost them.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am guessing that you are being sarcastic. But if not, I highly doubt it. This whole FBI investigation has been pretty much a bust, especially after all the reports about how this was going to tear college basketball wide open. Sure, right, uh-huh. I resurrected this thread about this same time last year (see post 1) on the 1 year anniversary of the probe (I think). And now here we are, another year has passed and not a whole lot has happened. I predicted it when it first began and I reiterated it last year and now. The FBI is not the big bad organization some think or thought it is. So many people were predicting that the FBI would really lay into all these college basketball programs. Pretty ineffective so far. Not much more effective than the NCAA. I will make the caveat that I have just been a casual follower of what has been happening and have not assiduously read all the reports and what not. I kind of wish Obelix was still on the board. He usually had a pretty good handle on what has transpired and what it all means.

Interested to see what the result of California's new law will be. Puts the NCAA in a tough position IMO.

Any expectation that the FBI was going to rain down fire and brimstone on college basketball was misplaced, and ruled by media hyperbole. The FBI was not investigating any breach of NCAA regulations, but for actions that violated federal statute . . . Period. They could only bring forward those violations to the DoJ to prosecute.

They did however, hand over a platter full of evidence that the NCAA can use to punish it’s member organizations that violated the rules that those same member organizations agreed to operate by.

I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for the NCAA to take any action on that evidence, because

a) the NCAA has shown an inability or unwillingness to punish the so-called blue bloods for even the most serious transgressions (see North Carolina academic scandal; USC & Reggie Bush, etc., etc., etc.), and

b) my face will turn Orange and Blue before the NCAA takes any action on this - they might view the situation an existential threat to college athletics and simply choose to continue to ignore it until it leaves the spotlight of the national media.

That’s my view anywhoo . . .

What's the problem? You think there are any schools left out there that don't barter for recruits with semen? This is the 2000s

Yeah, but USC was placed on probation for the Reggie Bush mess.

NCAA said the California legislation would upset the balance of power meaning their dictatorship. The NCAA knows what's best for college basketball, so they think. Despite more evidence against Arizona and what was submitted in the FBI investigation against schools like Kansas, LSU, etc their silence remains.

I guess I'm just old fashioned...and I think I'm OK with that?

What is the going rate for a top 50 pg these days, anyway...in ounces of semen??
