Not necessarily... Calipari is right there with him.

Cal is low-key not right there with him. The last RSCI top 5 recruit Kentucky got was Skal Labissiere in 2015. Duke has had Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, Marvin Bagley, Trevon Duval, RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Zion Williamson since then, plus Vernon Carey coming in this year.

Duke stands alone atop the recruiting food chain at this point, I think that's pretty tough to deny.

That is why it is even sweeter when they lose. Coach K is a stand up guy it seems however i still hate Duke and the fact they are on TV no matter who they play. Go Illini and screw Duke. One of my favorite victories was when we won there at Cameron years ago.

National 24/7 ranked classes Yr/Duke/ranking/#of recruits/

2019 - Duke is 3rd (4) - 99.27
2018 - Duke is 1st (5) - 99.63
2017 - Duke is 1st (7) - 96.71
2016 - Duke is 1st (6) -97.31
2015 - Duke is 2nd (6) -94.66 - Won Ship this year
2014 - Duke is 1st (lowest number to date of recruits at 4-most years 5-7 players) - 99.54
2013 - Duke is 9th (with 3 recruits) - 99.10
2012 - Duke is 41 ( with 2 recruits) - 99.14
2011 - Duke is 2nd (5) - 98.70
2010 - Duke is 16 (3 recruits-ILLINI was 13th lol) -96.63 Won the Ship this year. 9 years between the last one and this one.

Pretty hard to argue with those ##'s year in and year out. With turnover, the ability to get high avg classes regardless of # of commitments. The players know they can get to the NBA, get playing time, and the staff knows that they get to "pick" who the replacements are year in and year out almost....not a tough recruiting strategy to follow.

UCONN and Nova are the only other 2 schools that have won 2 Ships in that timeframe. Cal has not he has 1, Pitino lost his, Williams got 1.

Miller, Hawkins, and Gigiberia for our 2020 class? That could make it really easy to sell a top PG on coming in 2021 since the team would be so talented and deep at every other position.
This would be great for the fall class. Oversign by one assuming Ayo goes pro. Then in the spring, chase Curbelo assuming at least one transfer.

The importance of landing Miller can't be overstated.
People (including the coaching staff I'm sure) have been selling the idea that Miller will come in and be Ayo's replacement. What kind of player his he, skill/tendency-wise, compared to Ayo?

Miller doesn't have Ayo's elite pace and is not as good defensively. That said, he's damn good (borderline elite) and we *need* him. He's definitely a better shooter (out of HS).

I think the staff says we'll play you in the same way we play Ayo and you can just take his spot in the spotlight. Seems like an easy sell to me and I can't see why he wouldn't want to come on board and play in a great league, for a great school (mom's a teacher, so she'll value a UI education) in front of all your friends and family in both Peoria and Chicago.
