The triple option can also be run out of the shotgun...just sayin

Edit: also at 5:32

We ran so much great option stuff that year. But then the imperative to pretend Juice had an NFL future at QB butted in the picture, and it was never the same. Losing Rashard obviously hurt as well, but schematically we changed.

I would just like to see us pass to the tight end in the middle of the field, or a running back in the flat. I'm so tired of 90% of our pass plays going to the outside. Wouldn't this open up the outside when we decided to throw there?

Yup. I wonder how often teams go from leading their conference in rushing one year to leading it in passing the next like we did in 2007-2008.

In the good old QB debate, ratings aside, would you rather have the Peters we’ve seen this year or AJ Bush from last year? I think I’d take Bush, and I’m not sure I’d think about it very long before deciding. Just seemed to be a better fit and a more dynamic threat.

There is nothing about this offense that excites me, save for the occasional big run that Corbin might break. And between injuries and lack of RPO QB threat this year, I feel that odds on those plays have dropped quite a bit.
I would pick AJ and that is not that much of a knock of Peters as much as it is about this offense. It is maxed with a running QB. AJ is a runner. But damn he was a crappy thrower

Loved the days of option out of different formations. Anyone remember those late 2000s Air Force Teams? Option or Triple Option out of every Personnel Groups and Formations (similar to that 2007 U of I team). It was a work of art. It was sad to see it go.

It would be nice to IW play more than just a couple of plays in the wildcat formation where everyone on the defense knows that he is going to get the ball.
I imagine IW would be a fantastic attraction-getting decoy. Put him in at that same spot on the field or maybe a bit wider out & run up the gut instead.

The weather is going to help our bad pass defense out tomorrow. Rain and wind.
Hope so. For some reason I feel worse about this game the closer it gets. That's probably a good sign for the Illini.

Or, really, anybody that took snaps during the Moeller years.
Not sure that’s fair. Kurt Steger played one season for Moeller, and he was a solid QB. Rich Weiss was a big QB recruit but got hurt and wasn’t the same. Lawrence McCullough was a serviceable option QB.

I would take Peters over any of those guys every day of the week and 1000 times on any given Saturday. In fairness to all those guys, Moeller's offense was designed for failure. We had a whopping 2 TD passes each of Moeller's first two years. Not per game....THE WHOLE YEAR!. McCullough only had 7 in 1979 to go along with negative 71 yards rushing. None of those QBs had a chance in that system.

Sidney Brown needs to stop over running plays. He did that last year as a freshman. I was hoping he would get that taken care of in the off season. He has not. He continues to overrun plays this season. Hopefully these past two weeks of practice have resulted in a more astute Sidney this week at Minny.

Any recommendations for good places to eat and drink before and after the game? Where are the good hangouts in downtown Minneapolis or campus town area? Thanks! :illinois:

Hmmm. I based the colors on my football scholarship grid off the official colors, but the official uniforms are based off of...???
We're loyal to y'all, Illinois?
We're orange and teál, Illinois?

I with you on this. Not too sure how teal got in the game.

I’ve never quite “understood” the lengthy discussions about the uniforms to the point it seems that every last stitch is analyzed. I like some combos more than others, but not enough to comment about them. Until now. Those things are ugly made worse by fact they use a color that doesn’t represent the Illini. Oh well, if they win they won’t seem so ugly.
