I am a huge Lovie fan as a person. His inability to bring in solid assistants has turned me against him being our head coach moving forward. JW, get off your butt and start putting together your wish list! Bring the new head coach in quick, let him get his staff together and work on keeping the few decent players we have. Losing or allowing MJ Rivers to leave, was a huge mistake. We now have a state of the art football training facility. If Lovie is still here after this year I am done. He is not the answer and it crystal clear.

The play calling on both offense and defense is supremely bad! That cannot be fixed with an entirely healthy team. We cannot continue to sign 15 per class and 8 transfers. Massive recipe for years of failure!

MJ left due to a lifelong battle with severe clinical depression. That’s not on Lovie, or MJ, or anyone else. That’s a kid doing what’s right for himself and we have to respect everyone letting him due so with our full support.
I agree on everything else you said

With all due respect to his father, given the defense we have, I would think his son would be playing if he was the best option.

Fair, typical upset father.

Nothing against Khalan but when I think of the names I’d like to see get increased time as the season unravels, his name hasn’t come to mind.

I will say I was looking at the "speed freaks" names the other day, I believe that is guys that regularly get over 20 mph, and I saw Khalan's name on there. I believe he was the only LB on the list. It seems he is physically capable to see the field

He’s got some talent but he’s still too small for me. He’s a sub-package kid in my mind, even though man under defense’s like ours typically turn these kids into 3 down players.

That’s purely my opinion though, what do you think?

I've seen the dude workout with Bobby in the offseason, I saw what he looked like when he first came in. He is put together, bigger than Shammond basically. I first thought he could grow into the Lance Briggs role on this team, bigger guy who is a sure tackler. The fact he made the speed freaks actually shocked me. I would assume Jake is who is keeping him off the field at this point. Jake has had some pretty good plays and some pretty bad ones. I think it would be hard to justify playing him

All good points.

As for Shammond, he’s too light right now as a 18-19 year old. He’s the type of kid you see get into the offseason weight program who comes back as a completely different player as a sophomore. Our hopes for him are obviously sky high.

I tried rewatching yesterday, it's unbelievable how incapable we are of executing basic combination coverages. I don't know if it's a player issue, coaching issue or some horrible mix of the two (Most likely) but it's embarrassing. These are not difficult coverages to grasp/execute.

The clarity and simplicity of the scheme is meant to be a big selling point!

Leman was on the Werner show this morning talking about the game. He started by saying how disappointed he was in 2 players, wouldn't call their names out. But they were on two long runs, one being a TD. Said two of our better players just decided not to tackle the RB. I am pretty sure he is talking about Wole a few yards after the line of scrimmage on the TD run. That one I remember. And I believe it might be Hobbs on the long run that Adams just whiffed. I want to throw in that it was the play after Adams got his bell rung. I was shocked he was still in the game on the next play. Not shocked that he was timid 2 minutes later

My guess from watching it back twice? Green and Milo Eifler.

Kind of why I am hoping to see the breakdown. The team's motivation has to be at an all time low if Stanley Green is passing up hits

Those breakdown videos aren't bad. They don't do nearly as good of a job as they could, lot of singular player emphasis and they misdiagnose what's happening now and then but it's still good to see plays broken down in that manner.

They're better offensively than defensively.

I would like to know the coaches opinion on the TD throw where the Min WR tapped it to himself in the air. I remember seeing Dele not getting any depth after he realized it was a pass play, just kind of hopped for a second. Should he not be getting depth there if it was cover 2? If he did, he would have been in position to make a better play on the ball, or at least clog the passing lane to deter the throw.
I'm going to see if i can find the game on youtube or something

It's supposed to be yet every time I watch us run split safety combo out of a Cover 2 or Cover 4 set, someone is running open down the seam or the outside hash. It's mind numbing.
What possible explanation can there be for the constant blown coverages other than poor teaching/preparation? I just cannot understand what the coaches are highlighting in the film room and drilling on the field all week.

Players still have to execute, right? My 2 year old has toys all over her floor despite what I feel have been very clear instructions on where the toys need to be kept. 18-20 kids are going to screw up and they need to take ownership of it when they do. It's rare that an issue is as singular as just "Lovie Smith can't coach", it's always some type of mixture of the two. The trick is figuring out what that mixture is.

Getting Quan Martin out of the starting lineup is one small step.

I'll watch it this evening and give my two cents, if you like. Don't remember off hand. That game was tough to stomach.

1:07 mark - Nate Hobbs literally looks like he smacks him on the arse instead of attempting a tackle
1:23 mark - Dele isn't getting depth, just kind of hopping around - TD Min
2:31 mark - Wole with.....i don't freeking know what that was
