Lets focus on Rutgers! They are coming off a nice win against Liberty.

Need to get healthy/stay healthy this week. Dominate Rutgers from the get-go and hopefully get some in-game reps for the 2nd/3rd string guys. With the 4 game red shirt rule; would love to see some of the fresh meat get out there for some conference play if we are controlling the game. The experience will be motivating for them.

Jake Hansen is a downright football player

Win this one and we will need to start a bowl bid thread. It's been so long I don't really remember how all the politics work as far as who goes to which bowl.

Ideal scenario would be winning one of the road games too, but unlikely.
Two weeks ago we all would have said winning at MSU would be impossible, but they are a pretty average team. If Illinois can keep improving...

Great opportunity to get a win and work on getting healthy by getting some reps for the depth chart guys. Hope we have a nice crowd for the game. I’d be handing out student tickets like crazy.

Illinois should take care of business, although I have a wee bit of worry that the Rutgers' QB career game today against Liberty will somehow carry over into this game.
Either way, hoping to see a win in what will the first Illini game I've attended since the '07 Miznoz game, which leads me to ask about parking. Where can I park without having to pay 20 dollars?

Near Japan House and walk over.

I know 1) Wisconsin is pretty vanilla on O and 2) the rain might have had a part in today’s effort, but -

has the defense improved? And by how much?

With it being over Thanksgiving Break, the stadium is usually empty. No kids are in town to watch.
Would you come back a day early to see the Illini frost this cake, especially if Iowa and/or MSU come up as W’s. I wonder if they’d open up the dorms for early returnees.

I would, but I'm 11 years removed from being on campus 😂

I don't think the dorms shut down the way they did for winter break. I just think most people went home to enjoy the holiday with their families. Depending on how the next few weeks go, I'd consider going down for it.

Unless it’s changed since we were there (I graduated 8 years ago), the dorms are definitely shut down beyond certain circumstances like international students. For the NW game during the Rose Bowl year, Bromley allowed an extension into Saturday so people could stay and go to the game.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, or the one before? I was in Newman that year, but I don't remember what they did with us. They were fairly flexible if you gave them warning from what I remember re: coming back early if you needed to do so.

A friend and I were talking about this "Rivalry Week" thing and how it's all ESPN-fueled. Because they want Rivalry Week right before championship games, it screws a lot of people out of being able to go to the game. Kids are usually off campus (even if they're living in apartments) to spend time with their family for the holiday and the students who are left aren't often the ones that really care about football since they didn't grow up watching it, so they're unlikely to attend. It leads to a flatter atmosphere than usual for a game like this, which sucks all around.
