Illinois 37, Michigan State 34 POSTGAME

The best part about this game is all our mistakes led us to a victory!
Missing the extra point resulting in going for a TD and not tie
All the botched goal line plays it took to get 2 yards but killed the ENTIRE clock

Has anyone talked about Dantonio's timeout calls? Good or bad move? I get why he did it, but it seemed like not calling them could have panicked us a lot more.

I think using timeouts was 100% correct in this scenario.

You had just given up a 4th and 17. It's as much about getting your players right at this point. It obviously failed to change the outcome. Otherwise it's kinda like having your lifelines in Who Wants to be a Millionaire and just not using them.

As the expression often goes, "You cant take them with you."

As noted MSU fan Mike Valenti once said (in response to MSU's loss to Notre Dame the week before Juice and the Illini planted the flag in the middle of Spartan Stadium) "THEY ARE NOT LIKE CELL PHONE MINUTES, YOU CAN'T ROLL THEM OVER"

We used to joke about that regarding Zook and his lack of using timeouts based on a cell phone company’s ad at that time. “They’re rollover timeouts they work just the same!”

Are We getting close to the record for a Post Game Thread? We just can’t get enough of that win, and I love it.
For a football game? Yes, as far as I can tell, this is the most replies ever in a postgame thread.

But there are two basketball postgame threads that still have more replies: (1) our OT loss to Winthrop in 2016 (84-80) (540 replies); and (2) our narrow win over UIC in 2015 (83-79) (522 replies).

This is absolutely excellent:
Chills. Well done, media team. (y)
Excellent. Watched on my phone. Then on my computer. And then on the TV. And my wife—also an Illini—tried to not show it but /she/ was wiping a tear out of the corner of her eye.

Yes, if it’s the Pinstripe Bowl, we’ll be there.
