So my guy just told me that their isn’t gonna be a ton going on until ESP ends. And after they are gonna target guys like hill and others who are going to wait to sign until FEB. Also wanna see guys who will transfer post bowl game.

Wiggles is likely and Newton is like 50-50 from what I hear. Maybe 55-45 toward maryland

You gotta look from Newton’s perspective. In the last 3 classes we would have Coleman, okpala, Randolph, shipton, Avery, woods, pate ,Davis, riggins and wiggles all coming. Not a ton of snaps in there. Even with all the rotating we do there still isn’t a ton of snaps to go around.

How many snaps there are to go around is not the issue at hand for Newton.

I'm still hoping for a signing day surprise or two (who saw the Cooper flip from Mizzou?). Even if not, I'm liking the way this class is shaping up so far, especially with Wiggles on board and assuming we snag a couple other top names in the spring.

So more than likely wiggles is in. Newton is still on the fence. Bailey looks like anywhere but Champaign. Everything else looks like it will happen post ESP/bowl season.

Between Coleman and Cooper Davis, we have Bailey's position well covered. Roster management is a zero sum game and we have more pressing needs elsewhere.

I wouldn’t expect anything crazy with flip. Maybe just one surprise 👀. But I really like the late pickups. Especially Davis and spann. I would keep an eye on the DL transfers portal. Especially a guy from Arkansas....

Collin Clay? That would make me feel better about not getting a WDE in this class.

I would also like Williams from Stanford. I'm not sure why he's transferring but he started 12 games for Stanford this year and would be immediately eligible. We probably need to add another DT who can help us in 2020. None of the HS players should be counted on.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up about Newton but his film is fantastic. I think he's a bit underrated and would be one of the top recruits in this class if we can land him.

Bailey is most likely headed to Rutgers, for the guy that recruited him

I’m told Newton is hard to read. If it was a 2 team race, it’s close to 50-50. If it’s a 3 team race, 33-33-33. The point being that we are in the mix, but I wouldn’t bet money on anyone.

Does anyone know if the Illini are pursuing Jashaun Corbin who entered the portal from TAMU? With the next year loss of the two best running backs Dre Brown and Reggiie Corbin, this RB J Corbin would be a great pickup. Insiders can probably answer this question.

Any latest news going around about our chances with Michael Thompson?

No the staff isn’t focused on any RB per my guy on the staff. They are more than likely looking at DL, OL, S.

Unless one of the RBs on the current roster is transferring, I'm not sure I would have high interest in bringing in another in this class (Epstein, Bonner, Brown Norwood, Sims, Fedanzo, Cumby (more WR but could get some snaps), Love).

Especially with the amount of solid RB’s in next years class. We will probally take 2 in 2021.
