So now we have Dent, Hampton, Singletary, Payton, and Covert in the HOF from that 80's team. I've always though Fencik should be under consideration as well. Still a tragedy for all Bear fans that they didn't win more than one Super Bowl. Never even got back to play in a second game. As time goes on I find myself blaming Ditka more and more for that as well as McMahon, who didn't seem to respect his body on or off the field.

C'mon guys, let's quit piling on.
Ditka bears some of the blame. He simply didn’t have the coaching chops to keep up with the Gibbs/Walsh/Parcels trio in the NFC, especially after Ryan left for Philly.
I think Charles Martin’s cheap shot in 86 had as much to do with McMahon’s continued health issues as anything else. That killed his 86 season and then he never played in more than 12 games in a season again for the rest of his career. Still the dirtiest play I’ve ever seen in an NFL game.
Another big factor was Finks leaving the front office after 1982 and then Jerry Vainisi leaving after 1986, followed by the Bears deciding bizarrely to just not have a general manager any more. These were the guys that built the team. Both left because of ownership meddling in football operations.
The loss of Finks especially hurt. He was a certified football genius who in addition to putting a good chunk of the 80s Bears together, built the Purple People Eater Vikings (he brought Buddy Ryan - Minny’s D-line Coach - over with him to the Bears) and then the Johnson-Jackson-Mills-Swilling Saints.
So I'm guessing the Packers biggest needs this offseason are going to be getting run stoppers on defense and finding a legit secondary WR to Adams, no?
At the very least. In some ways, they were a bit like last year’s Bears. A statistical paper tiger, benefiting from a relatively easy schedule, a huge turnover differential, and maybe a bit of a dead cat bounce with the new coach coming in.
LaFleur has gotten a lot of props, but I’m not sure how great a coaching job it’s been when you have Aaron Rodgers and a +12 TO differential and are 10th in the conference in scoring. I see a lot of Nagy parallels.

A few different central Illinois connections on both teams in Super Bowl LIV. Everyone knows about EIU alum Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting QB for the 49ers. San Fran also has a reserve TE named Daniel Helm, an undrafted rookie, who played in high school at Chatham Glenwood and then went and played in college at Tennessee for a year before transferring to Duke. Kansas City has Nick Allegretti, a reserve offensive lineman, who was drafted in the 7th round of the 2019 draft out of Illinois.
Super Bowl is known for the many prop bets that happen prior to the game. One of my favorites was one sportsbook had Shanahan at 100-1 to blow a 28-3 lead.

Blew a 20-10 lead with 8 or 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
Shanahan has now been the OC for the biggest comeback in SB history and the HC for the 2nd biggest comeback in SB history.

Roberson's deal is the 2nd richest for a CFL to NFL player behind only Cameron Wake in 2009. Move may be a bit of a depth move as Prince Amukamara is entering the final year of his deal in 2020.
