Transfers Thread

Anyone hear if we're recruiting DT Michael Thomson (transfer from Oklahoma) from St Louis? I know we went hard aft3r him as a prep. I believe I read they switched him to OL there and he was mired in the depth chart. Can Coach Patterson reel him in, or does he even want to?

His name was brought up on here a few months ago creating some buzz. But then all news went dark

I work with a woman who proclaims to be the best friend of Michael Thompson's mother, she told me injuries and partying got the best of Michael at Oklahoma and his mother really wants him to go to Mizzou, but grades could be an issue. Not saying we don't have a chance, but it will be unlikely in my opinion.

Scholarship grid shows no eligibility remaining for Davis. Doubt the grid is wrong. Injury waiver possible?
I appreciate your confidence in me, however, I went by the official roster, which was wrong. Davis signed in 2015, and the roster treated that as a redshirt year. However, he actually gray shirted in 2015, attending Parkland College in the fall and joining the Illini in the spring of 2016. (I believe he could have qualified for a redshirt in 2016 as well.) In any event, the 5 year clock to play 4 years started ticking in 2016, so he has one additional year of eligibility.

Also, I have him playing in only three games this year, for what it's worth. I'll update the grid in a couple of days. December/January is kind of a busy period for me. I think I'll remove the portal players since, as Drew had reported, Lovie is counting them as open scholarships.

Illini WR Trenard Davis to graduate transfer

Illinois wide receiver Trenard Davis went through the senior-day ceremony during November's season-finale against Northwestern, so he was not expected to return to Champaign for another season. But after playing in just four games last season, preserving a redshirt, Davis on Sunday announced he will transfer elsewhere for his fifth and final season of eligibility.

Interesting timeline for him that he still has eligibility. Good luck to him in and everyone else in this senior class in their future endeavors. The fact that they stayed four years through all the downs and very few ups gives me nothing but respect for them. I hope he and everyone else who stayed all 4 years find somewhere that they can get 50+ snaps a game for all 12-13 games.

One more year? Do not think we would be interested. But, never know.

That's a narrative that one poster kept pushing on here, but not true. The percentage of grad transfers with 2 years remaining is very small & we'd like to bring in 3 or 4 again. KH has intel on Pollard. If he likes him as an upgrade at Safety, we'll pursue.him

Of course 2 years is better than 1, but it's not exactly like 1 year is worthless. I'm still in disbelief that grad transfers with 2 years even exist.
