Illinois #20 in AP Poll

#3
Iowa lost @ #15 Maryland and won vs #19 Illinois and is rewarded with an additional 59 votes this week.

Illinois won vs a strong (unranked) Minnesota and lost @ #18 Iowa and has 110 points deducted.

I feel like those are both appropriate if you're just looking at wins/losses but I would give both Iowa and Illinois more votes if you're looking at potential and overall strength of teams in relation to the other teams receiving votes.

Excited we’ll get a shot at a top ten Maryland squad on Friday in OUR house!

We should win this one...Top 10 or not, if you look at the record, anytime they play a coached/high intensity defensive unit they do poorly. They average a lot less points naturally, the totals are quite staggering actually for a Top 10 team?

Illinois - 59 -W
PSU-69-L
Iowa- 49-L
Wisky- 54- L
Purdue-57- W
Iowa - 82 -W on the rematch and adjustments.

One would think we should do fairly well also, 2nd game, they will make adjustments as well for us. Our team is such a different team than when we played them the first time as far as execution and offensive flow and confidence. I don't know if our ILLINI believed they could win the first one, I guarantee they KNOW they can win the 2nd one!

I think IL has to go at least 2-4 in the next four games and their best chance of doing that (IMO) is by winning the next two. They need more quad 1 wins and MD & MSU will do that. If they can go 2-4 they are fine if they take care of business after the next four which they should. They have four away games left. Most of their top B10 competitors have five away games. Protect home court and we're golden.

A win on Friday would tie 2013 for the latest in the regular season we have recorded a top ten victory, with that season of course being Griffey finishing off #1 Indiana. Before that? 1990!

I agree were probably "Golden" (my def is making the tourney).

if your goal is B10 champion... I think we'll have to be better than 2 and 4.

I've got it stuck in my head that we should get a double-bye in the BIG tournament. I.e. top 4 finish in the conference. That might seem like a low bar given we've made it to first place, but if you consider how tough the schedule is, and that six teams have 3 or 4 losses, it's not such a bad goal IMO.

That's my goal, too. Granted, jumping from the cellar to winning the conference title would be nothing short of historic. The 98/99 to 99/2000 comparisons are getting pretty eerie at this point.

In 2010, we beat #5 Michigan State on 2/6. Basically the same time in the regular season...

Yes, but if I recall correctly the 98/99 Big10 was very strong with many ranked teams, whereas the next year there was a notable decline. If we can keep this up, we would be succeeding in a very strong year - a more difficult achievement.
