What does he weigh now vs when he arrived? That just seems really hard to believe that he added 45lbs already 20 would be a lot.. He was 200 lbs when he arrived right according to the website. I hope they both excel. I personally expect Hutch to be the shooter we need having shot 44% from three as a freshman and is a great FT shooter. I love his shot and i hope he can be our Duncan Robinson DIII transfer story.
WHOOSH!

Love to read speculation on how actual commits will fit into the rotation, and not how will we find minutes for recruit X and recruit Y if both commit!

IF (and now that's a decently sized "if") we keep Kofi, lose Ayo, and add Miller all we'll need is shooters to make this a legit F4 caliber squad. If either of the transfers can push AG at the 3 spot next season (or GB if we went with a small lineup) then watch out. I was under the impression at least 1 of Grand or Hutch was a shooter but can't remember their profiles off the top of my head.
They both were above avg 36%+ 3pt shooters last year before transferring if I recall correctly

Thats what this team is lacking IMO based on the schemes they employ.

We have two shooters that teams dont want shooting the 3 - Trent and AG. Pretty sure opposing teams would be happy if the other players shot 3s all game. Guys like Ayo and Feliz are capable but not feared or efficient shooting the 3.

I think having a few more players on the floor that can be trusted to take/make an open 3 would help take this team to the next level.

Hutch shot 39% as a soph taking a ton of threes hit nine in a game and 44% as a freshmann. Grandison shot 38% i believe so they are both solid and Hutch may be our best shooter. He also led his conference in FT shooting at nearly 85%

I would like to know (but an a bit lazy) what Ayo has shot from three over t he last 8 or so games. He really seems to be getting a lot better base and not floating on his shots and it has really improved since early in the year. Anyone else see this?

I just read on 247 that in the last 8 games, Ayo, Trent and AG have all shot right at 40% from 3 and Feliz is around 35%, so much better than earlier this year. I remember saying they are better shooters than that and their percentages would improve. Glad I was right.

I am so fired up about Hutch and the new additions. I just like soft arching three point jump shots like Jamar and not many have it seems. I loved Hills soft mid range game too it is sad so few have soft shots like them.

It looks like the Christie does possess a soft shot that i love seeing in players too. I am not a fan of flat shots even if they make em they could make more with an arch.

except he isn't and it hasn't been shown imo that it will be either...Tev career to me so far is more like Myke Henry at Illinois than Jordan at all...I know it's just a comparision, just grossly off imo.

AJ isn't the last player we had that had small roles his first two years here before blossoming later in his career? Who was the last then?

I think you're missing the point and misinterpreting mine and previous posts. He isn't/wasn't comparing Tev to AJ in the present (other than saying both didn't contribute much on the basketball court their first two years in school). He was saying, IF Tev did blossom next year, then what player MIGHT be a comparison point for a similar playing career/arc (i.e. not contributing as an underclassmen, then becoming a contributor later on). He isn't saying that Tev is a similar player to AJ with similar potential, he isn't saying anything about Tev's value as a teammate compared to AJ, and he isn't saying that Tev will become AJ. All he is doing is conjecturing about what might happen down the road, however unlikely, and if the optimal outcome were to happen, whose basketball career with the Illini had a similar arc in recent memory.

After further review, our biggest loss next year will be Dre, we better hope we find a player willing to bull nose his way through defenses for easy scores, as of right now he is our only one.

I 100% agree with this! None of the incoming guards have his build or bulldog tenacity.

Weaponized DMFW will be our new Dre' next year I hope. He's got it in him....maybe not as quick...but it's there.

A more confident senior leader.

Yes, provided he gets his offensive mojo back. Don't expect him to be a big scorer, but he could be a fearless penetrator.

I would love to see it but just don't trust his ball handling enough to be that guy. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Where will the ILLINI be picked next year pre-season based on proposed roster:

Who will be our primary competitors based on players that are supposed to stay for everyone else?

Biggest weakness this year is shooting.
Miller - shooter
Cuerbelo - shooter
Hawkins - shooter
Grandison - shooter
Hutcherson - shooter

I like where the program is trending. Hope we hang onto OA and Kofi stays one more year.

Assuming we don't completely collapse and the only major defector is Ayo, top 20 seems about right. Still a lot to prove, but we would return a lot, and have two impact freshman incoming. If we finish strong this year, and a guy like Griffin really comes into his own (that suspension threw off a terrific stretch), top 10 isn't a pipe dream.

I think the words for next year are depth and shooting. We (semi) lack both this year.

Imagine IF...and I mean IF, we could start next year with a Starting 5 of Frazier, Miller, Griffin, Jones, (reliable and contributing) and Kofi. A 2nd unit of Curbelo, Grandison, Williams, Hutcherson/Hawkins and Giorgi (on the block). We will be very well stocked and class size will be very evened out as well.
