Has anyone heard of anything promising from the weekend’s staff visits?

Khristian Lander committed to IU. We had offered but were never considered to be in it.

Strong re-class candidate. Three 5 stars in 3 years for Archie.

Nice pick-up for them. He is so quick with nice handles and vertical. Guess it makes sense him being a 5*. I approve his rating. Ha!

Yeah, Niles North hoops has a long history of major suckitude. But that has zero to do with Smart. FWLIW, I wouldn't be surprised if Smart ends up having a good career with the turtles.
Haha Smart certainly found himself in a great situation, good for him. Turgeon will most definitely coach him up. But I’m surprised the roster has plenty of combo guards moving forward. In the past they were big man heavy. Is this the new trend of the Big Ten?

Great read about recruiting overseas by Zags Tommy Lloyd. This is what I hope the ILLINI program would emulate for many years and we are starting to get to this point I believe.

With BU wanting to get us back to the Flying ILLINI days, (roster buildout imo) and OA being our Tommy Lloyd hopefully on the Dominican front especially, and now Gentry who was in the Zag atmosphere, good things all around. We could do much worse, (last 15 years maybe?)

Good read. Short Roger Powell interview also. He might have a job there for a long time, if he wants.

Those "questionable" roster decisions at ISU led to several years of talented and fun-to-watch basketball teams. I started following that team when Chris Babb (PSU), Royce White (Minn), Korie Lucious (MSU) and Chris Allen (MSU) were all playing or sitting their transfer years because I could connect with that team. I had graduated from U of I in 2010 and literally watched all of those players in person. Sure, some of them had some troubled past incidents that led them to transfer from their prior schools...but I cannot remember any of them (or any of the multiple other transfers from D1 schools) causing any trouble at ISU while they were there.

What would make Kobe King a questionable roster decision? Seems like a perfect Hoiberg fit to me...

LOL, Hoiberg set an NCAA record with 5 arrests or 40% of his roster being arrested in 2014-2015. Here's the link. Regarding King, he quit and nobody likes a quitter. Your memory of not causing any problems at ISU is a a little foggy.
