Hoping this squad can finally end our streak of 7 consecutive years without an NCAA appearance. And I'd have to say that Underwood will now be in a "must win" situation having gone zero for his first three.
Will now be in a must win situation?

What did he do this year? They were at 21 wins and counting, top four finish, lock for the NCAA Tournament and he and his staff deservedly got extensions.

We're very fortunate to have one of the elite coaches in the country.

Apologies if I'm missing your point.

I don't know if you're missing the point, but you're definitely missing the joke.

By game 5 at the latest. Book it! Lots of minutes for Giorgi and DMW, don't know the other guys well enough to say.

I totally whiffed. Bad 24 hours man.

Yes, we all can relate. Every time I watch the highlights of the Iowa game and Ayo and Underwood going through and high-fiving all the crowd after the win, which was absolutely awesome and one of the best moments I've had following Illini sports in ages, I can't help but think how much has changed in just FOUR days (and how now just a few days later you would never see people doing what Underwood and Ayo did). Sunday night when we were all going nuts celebrating that win, who would have thought this is where we'd be Thursday night? My goodness.

I've got to find something to take my mind off this - not looking forward to when 1:30 rolls around tomorrow thinking it should be Illinois BTT time, not looking forward to 5 p.m. Sunday, not looking forward to next Thursday 11 a.m.....and yes, I get that basketball is just meaningless compared to everything else, and I get we're just fans and it is so much worse for Ayo, Feliz and the rest, but for those of us who love Illinois sports like the people on this board, it also is extremely painful for us. Maybe it shouldn't be, maybe we shouldn't care so much, but all of us here do.

3 guys 6’ to 6’3” and a 6’5” with Kofi. Don’t think so. Not thinking new guys always better than experienced guys.

As I read player tweets reflecting on the 19-20 season, I have to speculate that Ayo will not be saying anything in the immediate future. Instead, I believe his comments will be bundled with the announcement of his decision later this spring. As I recall, that was his "Unfinished Business" tweet last year.

Am I wrong? I guess perhaps he can can come up with something suspenseful. Anxious to hear from him!

One thing is for sure (as stated on here so many times before), winning is everything. While I would tend to agree Tev would seem most likely to transfer out of anyone, I would say that is obviously not a given. Had we finished the season like last year, and he was in the same situation, I would say he is definitely transferring. When teams win, I think the "selfish factor" tends to go away some more and kids trust the process while having a little more patience for their turn/time. Transfers are always going to happen, but we are awakening a sleeping giant that is going to be tough for a good long while. We are going to start seeing some deep rosters with some loaded talent (that is if we don't all die of course).

Especially with Tev, (maybe others as well) if the rule goes through as soon as next season. With the latest development, I would suspect that a 1 time no penalty/no wait to play will come into the landscape quickly from NCAA standpoint in light of recent NCAA tournament developments. I think it could factor in.

While I don't like the idea of it all, I love it for the sake of the players. As mentioned on here before, if coaches can, why not players? Regardless of whether or not kids go pro, they should be able to decide where they want to go, even if that means they change their mind or feel like they made a mistake with their first choice. I really believe it will be both good and bad for college athletics. All in all, I believe it is a good decision. I just hope it doesn't impact us in a bad way. Is that strange? Haha

He strikes me as a Kendrick Nunn type of player and alpha personality?

The clip that came out recently with him dunking over a kid and flexing while staring him down... I love that bulldog mindset. He is going to fit in well with the Illini because we need more than just AG doing this. Going to be some fun basketball to watch for quite a while!

In terms of transfers, if Jermaine stays he will be the first developmental big to do so. Lost Ebo and Samba for whatever reason.

For us all.

On top of it all, I got to add this to my last 48 hours:
- Death in the family
- Pertussis outbreak at my daughter's preschool
- Told that all the classes I teach have to be moved online next week with no meaningful guidance

Oof.

Sorry for your loss, the pertussis-that can't be good at this time especially. The online guidance frees up more time to be on here and subjectively discussing the season....oh wait.

It could very well affect us in a good way, (recent Kentucky transfer comes to mind possibly). That said, a 1 and done transfer/no penalty ruling is actually the best thing the NCAA can do (outside of the 1 and done college rule being dismissed). The times are a changing as Dylan and many others have sang about, time for the NCAA to join the choir and do their best to keep up.
