Alan Griffin transfers to Syracuse

Frankly I would take AG anytime over Curbela. AG is also a wing as well as a guard in reality. Gurbela hasn't proven he
can make the 3, and after last year we need someone who can make the 3.

keep on truckin

I think Curbelo will be able to get Kofi the ball in the right place better than anyone we had this year. Don't underestimate the value in getting the big guy the ball in the right spot.

I get the sarcasm at Alan playing the point here (We have Trent and Curbelo) but don’t think it is as far out as some think to play it elsewhere. If you look at the improvement he made from 1 to 2nd year you realize he is not afraid to work to accomplish his goals. Would think that position would give him more of a chance to make it to the NBA and probably can find a team to give him that opportunity. Is a case where his goals and Illini team goals don’t match. Best of luck to him!
4.5 rebounds per his playing time translates to almost 10 rebounds over a full 40 minutes. That’s an impressive stat to accompany the improved shooting. Thanks for posting.

AG was, is and I believe will be awesome at his next stop....his competitive spirit and loose ball quickness was top of the charts...He Will be Missed.

His mom's influence and feelings of BU were made clear in 2018 after the Missouri loss...she wont be missed by Illini. I think AG can have a shot at the NBA, but this decision by him and/or his Mom probably slows that down and adds uncertainty.

There’s no “I” in team, but there’s an “M” and an “E”. Is there any loyalty these days?
Oh well, it is what it is. We’ll be fine.

When they give the players the power to transfer without penalty, look out. Each off season will be like free agency. Look at the transfer portal. How many kids are in that thing right now?

It's not a matter of loyalty, it's a matter of starting, playing time and in many cases it's just going from a mid major to a nationally relevant team.

Every team goes through some sort of transition in the off-season.....it'll just be more unexpected now.

Do you keep yourself in situations that you don’t feel are in your best interest because of loyalty?

Or do you do what you feel is best for you?

I thing AG ultimately sits one and plays one. Unless NCAA allows him to play and Illinois green lights it. I wish him the best, he showed great improvement over the last year. Thought he would start next season and average 12-14 ppg.

so after sitting one he'll have two years of eligibility. of course he can transfer or go pro
