Illinois Alumni Team in TBT

McCamey I understand. But BP3 is a bummer. Guess we don't know what went down behind the scenes but it would have been amazing to see BP3 on this team. Oh well, at least I got 3 teams to root for now.

In the end it might just have been about which team helps him win, after all that prize money is no joke. No shame, in my opinion, chasing that with how the sports world is looking these passed couple months.

Personally I take more exception to DMac playing on an Ohio State alumni team. I can live with BP3 playing unaffiliated with Euro teammates.
Eh, he's one of the top scorers for the defending champions. I'm sure he agreed to the ohio state alum way before he knew about an Illini team.

I really hope this tournament happens as planned... I'm so sports-starved, I will probably tune in to root for Paul and McCamey in addition to the House of 'Paign games.

Really interested to see Rayvonte Rice play as a point guard... also interested to see how well Bradford still gets up and down the court at age 41, lol. Though, Bradford said in an interview he'll be happy to contribute whatever minutes are needed, even if it's just 5-10 per game.

If Ayo knows he is going pro why doesnt he play? Would he be elgible?
I would assume that since Andres Feliz is eligible that Ayo would be as well. It would certainly be cool to see him play in it.

Still, I'm not sure it would really make that much sense for him. It looks like the largest win share allotted to any team member is currently $150k. I'm not sure that the slight chance of winning is worth the potential of being injured. Any potential impact on draft stock could probably go either way depending on how well he fared against more physically mature adults.

Mike Daum is an absolute stud - that's a huge pickup! That BP3 team and overseas elite are probably too talented to not win it all, but we have a competitive squad.

Doesn't this make the tenth player to sign on with our squad? Isn't there some sort of penalty for 'signing' more than nine?
Ya under the rules we’ll have to pay an extra $1000 for the 10th player. I would have figured we’d stop at 9. But I guess with a bunch of games in quick succession, risk of injuries etc. it makes sense to have some extra depth.

Is Latulip counted in that 10 players? because I believe he's just GM/coach but still counts toward the 7 alumni count.

No, MLT is just the GM/coach I am pretty certain. We have ten players without him - Hill, Rice, Egwu, Black, Finke, Feliz, Bradford are 7 from Illini. Then Vinales, Mooney and Daum make 10.

Rice apparently signed and has left to play with a pro team in Israel and won't be on the TBT team.

Big time ouch. So unless MLT is counting himself as a player, we need a 7th to qualify as an Illini team.

Not an easy draw. War Tampa is pretty good. partly made up of former auburn players, including Bryce Brown from their final four team. I can’t imagine the TBT folks thought of this, but they sort of set up an Illini-Bruce Pearl matchup.

if we get to second round, we face mccamey and number 1 seed OSU team. I’d be pretty excited about that matchup, but they are very good. Added Trey Burke this year.

Our first round matchup is July 4 or 5. Second round would be 6th to 9th.

Here’s a preview of the tourney team by team. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...5416/tbt-2020-know-every-team-24-team-bracket

Man, I thought the House of 'Paign might win a couple games, and there's still a chance, but many of these teams look pretty darn good. ESPN says the Tampa team has multiple players from Auburn's Final Four team, plus Fletcher Magee. And I just saw that the OSU team picked up Trey Burke... they don't even really need McCamey.

Mooney and Daum were awesome gets, though. I'd think they are both starters.
