but if this is all you do, it would be nice to be good before everyone else.

From a safety standpoint, would it make sense to have a series of mini-tournaments? Every other weekend, four teams all go to one site, and play two games on Friday, two on Saturday, and two on Sunday. (Is that quick enough so that someone infected on Friday wouldn't himself be able to spread it on Sunday?) Then taking two weeks off (incubation period) before any of those teams plays again?

Why are people mad with a 4 seed prediction from Lunardi? That has us as a legit top 15 team in the country. The Big 10 is a gauntlet, and it is likely no one is going to make it through with so few losses that they are going to be a top 2 seed.

1 seeds are inherently cursed and get bounced in the tourney anyways. Gimme a 2-4 seed all day.
OK, I get your point, but, nah, gotta go for #1 of the 1-seeds, going in dominant, the Big Dog. Forget the curse, there is nothing like the feeling of being and knowing, you are number 1.
There was nothing like the 2004-5 season. Maybe the 89 team was better, worth discussion (better w beers).
For those who weren't there, the absolute destruction of the overwhelming concensus #1 team, Wake Forest, where the announcers were aghast and nearly in tears of pity for Wake; the beatdown of Cincinnati, a real power those days, and domination of a gauntlet of many other great, great teams. And then, there was the 15-pass (or was it 18?) set against, I think Minny (which even made highlights on local sports stations out here), where the Illini were like a bullfighter, tossing the ball around and across the key against a really good, quick D that initially responded to every Illini pass, but, just like a bull in the ring, eventually just grew exhausted, and could move no more. I post the following article here every so often, because I don't think I have ever read another like it, about any other team. Hope you enjoy it like I do.

Wonder if you all saw what happened with Alan Griffin's dad at https://sports.yahoo.com/raptors-as...mestic-violence-by-former-wife-181614122.html. Might explain some things. I don't know what the accuracy is on all of this, but either way, Alan has experienced some trauma.

Not meaning to be pedantic, but #1 seeds have won 11 of the last 15 titles, and four of the last five...
Wow. Sad stuff.
That said, the only explanation I remember (from posts here) other than possibly lower PT next season was that he was PO'd that BU didn't believe him that the foot stomping thing was an accident. I would think that would have been worked out over time, but who knows. Being closer to home to deal with family makes a whole lot more sense.

I would, as well, but I have always gotten the (perhaps irrational) feeling that Lunardi has next to zero respect for us. I know, I know - we haven't earned it. Sometimes it's how someone says things and not what they actually say, and he has rubbed me the wrong way in interviews when we have come up. Compare him to someone like Katz, who always seems to be all about us, and he looks even worse from a homer's POV.
Also, we have appeared in the top ten in nearly every new ranking I see come across a social media feed (I don't usually search them out myself), deserved or not, and that would imply a 2- or 3-seed as a realistic ceiling, so putting us as a 4 and Iowa as significantly higher is at least KIND of a slight.

If all of this is true and he is our best athlete at 6'6" , long, has handles, and shot 42% from three over 2 seasons , 88% from the line. Plus a year here to improve, learn, and develop. Outside of Kofi and Ayo how does he not jump guys and be among the top in minutes whether he starts or not. Outside shooting was among our biggest weaknesses last season. IMO if TF and DMW dont improve drastically in shooting from last season I wont be shocked if AM and AH get as many minutes as anyone outside of Kofi and Ayo. Being a 6'6" athletic guard with handles and a killer stroke is exactly what I feel really helps give us what we need more of to take that next step. I heard Loren Tate say a while back it's going to be hard to keep AH out of the line up from what he has been told. He and Miller really have something the Illini need.. More athletes that have a solid all round game but can shoot.

Could not agree with this more. My only concern with AH has always been how his slender build would hold up on D, given that he'll likely be asked to play a lot of the 3 since our backcourt is loaded. Otherwise, it *sounds like* he checks all the boxes you want in a wing player.
I still see DMW playing a lot (~20 min) just because his defense is so good, but I'm guessing he'll move to the 4 more often to clear some minutes elsewhere. I am hoping that TF's shooting woes are behind him this year, both because his ball handling was really valuable last year and because I really don't want to see a situation where he's losing lots of minutes, given all that he has done for this program during his time here.

Hutch will get minutes, but there's just zero chance he takes meaningful minutes away from elite B1G defenders. He's going to get good rotation minutes for sure, but we all remember how TJ and AG's minutes went when they fell short on the other end.
Hopefully Hutch can bring it on both ends!
