would nick be a good replacement?

If OA leaves, I expect there to be a major drop in quality, even if we hire another stellar recruiter. OA is fulfilling two key functions, recruiter and a big man coach with a track record of success. They combine into a viruous cycle.

The real question is what drives OA? He already makes enough to comfortably retire in style (more than that is just ego and bragging rights). His job is probably safer now than as a HC. So what is the motivation? Does he feel the need to be "the man" vs. a (the?) major source of success of the team? It is something he feels the need to prove to himself after the previous failed attempt? If OA becomes a head coach, will he still have the time to dedicate to the big men development? Will the HC demands improve or worsen his lifestyle compared to his current role?

Thus far, I wonder if OA hasn't had more to do with the success of the team than Underwood. The only things Underwood has impressed me with so far are his selections of assistant coaches, and then listening to them (Well ahead of Weber and Groce). On his own, there were tons of red flags that others had to help him fix, for example, his demeanor (angry coach), and his failure to consider the impact of his poor defensive strategy.

Don't hear too much on here about the Casey recruitment. Seems like we are all over him but has anyone heard how we look in that race?

In Casey-related news, he is leaving Tinley Park. Next stop unknown (speculation on Whitney Young). After reading the article, its safe to say that Papa Casey will a say in his son's college choice.

Simeon, Tinley Park, what’s next? A.J. Casey to transfer again and his dad Andre says, ‘If I tell him we’re moving to China, he has no choice. We’re moving to China.’

On Jones, Brian Snow of 247 changed his CB from Illinois with confidence 6 to DePaul with confidence 9. Not looking good.

If this is really a harbinger for these rumors about OA it just seems like a real shame all around. OA is a great recruiter with the backing of a major program, but in his one head coaching stint at USF his recruiting success didn't really carry over. DePaul probably sets him up a little better, but not sure the result will be hugely different. This could end up being a loss for Illinois, OA, and DePaul.

You hate to see it. If current projections hold and we miss out on Nesbitt and Jones, does Illinois take a look at Tevin Smith? Would like to believe Depaul can't steal another SF from the same class.

I am sure everyone has already seen this but I'll still post it:

The Jones recruitment is one of the all time "recruiting is fluid" examples. This whole thing changed 10 days ago when Peevy came on board at DePud. Oh well, next man up.

It’s very possible the only reason we are losing out on all of these guys is because they don’t see a path to minutes as a freshman. Even with Ayo and Kofi gone, it’s going to be a crowded, veteran roster next year.

Let me get this straight. Correct me if I’m wrong as I am just a casual visitor or this forum. DePaul hires a new athletic director named Peevy who was the deputy athletic director at Kentucky when Orlando Antiqua was on the coaching staff then. Now a whole bunch of posters are going batsh*t crazy assuming that now DePaul is going to replace Leito with Antiqua.

If you think this is "batsh*t crazy," you haven't been here very long.

considering DePaul just gave their coach a contract extension (April) it seems like they probably wouldn’t push him out right now. I don’t understand where these rumors are coming from other than wild speculation.
