Great list.

I think the least likely is Curbelo to average >6 assists. I know he is going to be a stud and he will likely have some eye-opening games. I just don't think he will have quite the minutes to get there. We just have so much stinkin' depth with our guards.

Damonte averaging >9 points is also hard to see. Good choice on a number, because I could definitely see it happening, but again, I just think we have so much depth, that I don't see him having the opportunity to score that.

Switch Hutch above Curbelo and I think you nailed it!

On a scale of 1 (definitely not going to happen) to 5 (50/50 shot) to 10 (the only way this doesn't happen is COVID/Injury):

1 Curbelo to average >6 assists.
Who was the last Illini to average more than 6 assists? (Junior and Senior McCamey in 2009-10 and 2010-11 I think) I don't think there is any chance of this happening at all, especially since I think Trent still plays PG for a decent part of the season.

2 Ayo to average 7 rebounds
I don't see this as an area of improvement that Ayo will focus on. He averaged 4.0 and then 4.3 REB his first to seasons and I think he'll average 3.7-5.0 this season as well.

3 Giorgi to average >10 pts
If we hadn't added Hutch and Grand to the mix I think Giorgi would have a lot more potential to hit double digit scoring. As it is, I expect Kofi on the floor 31 (+/- 2) MIN and there to be more competition for minutes at the 4 spot. Giorgi adds some post skills blocking out opponents to open up the lane for teammates that I don't expect to see from other options at the 4 so I think Giorgi still gets his minutes, but that style of play doesn't lend it self to double digit scoring unless he can back it up with a 3 point shot.

4 DaMonte to average >9 pts
I view this as a coin flip with weight towards it not happening. The way DMFW was shooting to finish the season may be the spark he needed to get his confidence back and we could see him hit 2-3 tres per game and add some FTs to the mix to hit 9 pts. He should be on the floor for about 20 minutes per game if he continues to be a key defender without committing turnovers but he hasn't proven his ability to knock down shots or get to the line in 3 years and it's probably more likely that he doesn't see a huge improvement this year. I would guess 5 points per game as a more realistic expectation.

5 Hutch to exceed Griffin’s 9 pts and 4.5 rebounds
50/50 shot. I think he will basically step right into Griffin's shoe's from last season and fully fills them out; but that there's more competition for minutes on this seasons roster such that he needs to play better than Griffin did last year to have the opportunity to put those numbers up.

6 Kofi to average a double/ double (pts/rebs)
Kofi put up 13.3 PTS and 8.8 REB in 27.4 MIN as a Freshman (11.7 PTS and 8.2 REB in 27.8 MIN in conference play). In a regular season with a full non-con slate to boost his stats I'd put Kofi at a 8 to average a double/double with the main thing holding him back that I expect him to increase his value further from the rim which could result in a decrease in total rebounds. With COVID in the mix we may have a few less cupcake matchups so I think his total efficiency from last year is probably about where he'll land again this year with an increase from 27.4 to 31 minutes per game (13%). A 13% increase in boards only puts him at 9.9 REB so I think it's sort of a coin flip as to if he gets there or not.

7 Adam to average >12 pts
I'm expecting 25 minutes and 11 points so I think he falls short of the 12 point goal post. I hope I'm wrong and he exceeds my expectations.

8 Grandison to average more mins than Giorgi
I hope Giorgi finds a shot but if not he's just got his fancy footwork in the post boxing out opponents to fall back on and I don't think his defense is strong enough to get him more than 20 minutes if he's not scoring. Grandison's practice reports indicate that he's a solid defender and I definitely think he's a bigger scoring threat than Giorgi is from more than 7 feet out. I've got my money on Grandison eating Giorgi's minutes this season.

Adding 2 more in to round out the list:
9 Illinois wins Regular Season Conference Champs & B10 Tourny
Feeling pretty good about our chances as I think we can win more games than Iowa (and I think we've got a slight edge in a head-to-head matchup)

10 Illinois makes the S16 or better
I'm feeling pretty good about our team in high pressure situations. I think we're going to be a great tournament team, even if we have a few slips on the way there.
