Two of these in a row sucks. At least our team is good and we've recruited some top notch guys over the last few years. Remember when just barely missing on top prospects was as good as it got?

Does this change the dynamics of the Hopkins recruitment? Is he more likely to come with Nesbitt out of the picture? I'm assuming the staff will shift focus a bit in his direction...

Hopkins is a 4, we need a 4 a whole heck of a lot more than a 3. We are in better shape with Bryce then most people think. Chin, it's your turn at the pump.

That Memphis program has reeked for years. Isn’t there a reason Wiseman was ineligible last year? 🤢🤮 On to the next one.

As Calvin and I discussed earlier in the thread, no ones running a 100% clean program. That being said, the Wiseman situation was complete bull. I moved to Memphis in 7th grade and have spent the better part of 20 years in Tennessee. When Penny paid for wiseman to transfer high schools, he had no way of knowing he’d be the Memphis head coach two years later. That was a TSSAA issue, not a NCAA issue.

Now, we can debate the Moussa Cisse situation and its red flags. But again, no program is 100% clean if they are either 1) in the P5 or 2) ranked

Well, shoot.

Not really too concerned here. Nesbitt is a really good player, but we can still get pieces. This team is in a great spot, and getting a guy like Nesbitt is just icing on the cake. Hope a guy like Hutch ends up as good as he looks, and we won't even think back on this.

The crazy part about Wiseman is that Penny poached him away from Bradley Beal Elite (Nesbitt's AAU team) to Penny's AAU team and cost BBE a National AAU championship.

You don't think Memphis used Penny in any way to gain favor with recruits, even before he was head coach? Seriously? He's a former NBA superstar. Give me a break.

Oh, I know they're not the same position, just looking for some kind of silver lining here. Theoretically, in a stacked roster having a little less talent in your class, even at another position, could increase your odds of getting some early minutes when a lot of guys are can play 2-3 or 3-4 (say a Frosh Nesbitt gets some minutes at the 3 while BBV is in at the 4, maybe now instead Frosh Hopkins in at the 4 while BBV slides over to the 3). Probably too minor to make a difference but I'm admittedly grasping at straws here.

It's a complicated situation. Penny was the High school coach of a powerhouse in Memphis was hired to Memphis to coach is alma matter. The helping Wiseman to transfer from one high school to one coached by Penny is fishy. That starts the trail of breadcrumbs that lead to Wiseman committing to Memphis then becoming suspended. High school sports are filled with transfers from one high school to the next or the high school coach/parent coach leaving for a college then a player or players following. Marcus Watson graduates from Morgan Park, commits to Wake, Nick gets hired at Western, Marcus and another Morgan Park grad commits to Western. It might not be right but it happens all of the time. Michael Porter Jr, Cade Cunningham, the list goes on and on.

They absolutely did, but not under Tubby Smith, which is a reason Tubby got fired. He didn’t want to go along with the program. He fired Kelan Lawson which led to the Lawsons transferring to Kansas, the 3rd kid going to Oregon and the 4th kid still being undecided on whether or not he actually wants to go to Memphis. Wiseman wasn’t going to Memphis until Penny became the coach.

Illinois hires Brad Underwood, Tyler Underwood transfers to Illinois. Even we are guilty

So back to that Florida wing as our main target there now? Hopefully we've kept lines of communication open there and this didn't take us out of potential contention.

I’m just glad we (as a fan community) don’t eat our own anymore when it comes to the info our insiders give.

This is especially true during crazy recruitments like these. Thanks QC, Indy, and anyone else that provided data that was accurate at the time you shared.

I hope you are right, but it's early.

John Camden to Memphis. Penny is now 9 for the last 9 recruits he has targeted.

Wesley Cardet, Jr--still very much in the mix. Big 6'6" combo guard.
