Take it for what it's worth but I heard an interview by a reporter of a Wichita newspaper who called the allegations BS. He claims that there were a number (6?) of disgruntled players who had been recruited over and wanted to transfer. When they made the decision they assumed that they were going to be granted immediate eligibility at their new schools. When the ncaa drug its feet on passing the new rule for immediate eligibility, they got concerned that they might have to sit out a year. Thus, they got together and came up with the abuse story in order to grease the way for immediate eligibility. This local reporter, of course, has a vested interest in not antagonizing the coaching staff.

The truth is usually found somewhere in between the two stories. My instinct tells me that is probably the case here.

In that practice photo can anyone identify who's on each team?

From what I see (Offense / Defense):
Giorgi / Kofi
Orange Shoes (Miller?) / Hawkins
? (far left corner) / Curbelo (white sleeves)
? (Hutcherson?) / Ayo (on ball)
Williams / blocked from view (Trent?)

Sidelines: Verdonk, Lieb, Grandison (arms behind back), ? Hamlin?

If I'm right that means
Team A: Trent, Ayo, Curbelo, Hawkins, Kofi
Team B: Hutcherson, Miller, Williams, ?, Giorgi
Looks like BBV in blue on the far right of the second picture with no boot on either. Looks like trent is wearing blue also in the second picture, but they may have swapped up teams by then.

I don’t see anyone in a boot. Does that mean Verdonk is participating? Good news if so.

Just confirming that I agree Ben is in the Orange Shoes farthest to the right in the group photo (he grew his hair out a bit since his headshots were taken). Then you can find Verdonk on the sidelines base on the orange shoes and hair (closets to us on the right sideline in the first photo).

Also wanted to point out that Zach took his shoes off (socks only) which is even further from a boot. Should we expect something special from him this season?

He also appears to be about the only player with a mask on. Does that mean that he wasn't an active participant?

Wonder why no Hutcherson. Did you get to see the scrimmage? How did everyone look?

Today's Brad Underwood zoom after 1st day of practice

Underwood mentions Ayo Dosunmu is up to 206 pounds. He was 170 as a freshman.

Mentioned they could post him up more. I can see Ayo knowing the Kobe fadeaway well (which was a copy of the MJ fadeaway).

Underwood: Jermaine Hamlin had a hand procedure during the summer. Hasn't started practicing yet.

Underwood: Coleman Hawkins "an elite shooter," a great ballhandler and "an elite passer" with good IQ and instincts.

Says he will get on the court "earlier than maybe even I thought."

At 6-10, Underwood calls him a great stretch four and eventually probably a three.

Underwood on freshmen impact on the court: "They're probably ahead of any group of freshmen" he's had.

Still developing chemistry and adapting to college game. "Where they're at learning and understanding is way ahead of any group we've ever had."

@ALionEye asked Underwood if Kofi will have the green light to shoot threes.

Underwood: "No." Added he might let him throw up one a game.

Underwood hopes last year's shooting was "a one-off year." Said Adam Miller is "an elite shooter."

Asked him about scheduling and specifically Missouri, and he said a lot is on the table but has few answers on the nonconference schedule right now. A lot of issues to work through with testing, etc.

Underwood: Austin Hutcherson and Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk

Hutcherson has some back issues, hasn't practiced or done anything this spring. Another exam soon.

BBV had a foot flare-up, in a boot. Out now.

Some details on the injuries here. Probably the same info as the video above which I haven't watched yet. :)

I believe that the Illini are undefeated in the Illini Classic. One year, maybe 86 or 87, I think Auburn nearly beat them. I will now research and see how close I am.
Yep, '87 vs. Auburn, 107-103, in OT. And my doesn't think that I have a good memory.

I didn’t remember a school like Auburn ever being in it so yours is better than mine. I recalled them always being cupcakes.
Auburn was pretty good in the mid-80's (remarkably, they were better after Barkley left than when he was there). 5 straight NCAA appearances, getting to the Sweet Sixteen 3 times and advancing once to the Elite Eight.

I understand. I meant I recalled only non power 5 cupcakes being in the classic

Your what?
I think he forgot.

I'm glad to hear the early reviews on Hawkins are good, if only because it gives me an excuse to post the greatest commitment edit ever:
