I wonder how clued in the other players and teammates are in general regarding these commitments. It's funny thinking about all this mental energy spent trying to decipher the tea leaves, when maybe these kids discuss it freely amongst their peers, and its an open secret.

I realize everyone on this board is here primarily for entertainment, and our insiders have their proximity to the team, and that's fine. The more I think about it though the more bizarre the profession of following these kids seems to me.

"Oh hey, nice to meet you, what do you do?" "I follow HS kids and try to guess which school they'll attend 1-4 weeks before they announce it themselves, and then write articles about that"
I've thought the same thing, IHO. I feel more than a little weird being this fixated on it. I tell myself, "self, just ignore that thread and see who shows up on campus next year. Brad will probably field a nice team and coach 'em up real good." but then, a la Michael Corleone - just when I thought I was out - they pull me back in...

I admittedly got a little ahead of my self when he visited campus (still unconfirmed but it happened on a Thursday and weather the weekend visit happened or not, that’s still up for debate imo)

But when it happens this Weeknd... this ☝ will be the furthest thing from your mind! 👍🏽
Keep posting. I know we're having some fun at the insiders' expense but I really do appreciate the posts.

It would be a bit odd for Hopkins to decommit from Louisville and then commit to their arch enemy (though I'm sure it's happened before). On that basis alone, I'm going with Illinois.

And that concludes today's session of Introduction to Logical Fallacies.

I believe a commitment is going to happen within the next couple of weeks from what multiple sauces have said.

Pitino did it the other way in a sense.

Although Indiana doesn't hold the same hate in my heart as I have for Mizzou, Eric Gordon is the obvious comparison there....

There have been a few that have been right in the past. Whether it be dumb luck, or actual inside knowledge, impossible to know.

That being said I believe some people here actually do have some sort of connection to the program, I believe them. I'd say some people have lost a lot of credibility, but at the end of the day Occams razor tells us chances we have more than 1 or 2 people who have a real connection is slim.

I personally take insiders as a source of optimism. Whether or not I believe the know anything, I prefer being blissfully ignorant while the board can rip up their insider status for me.

Insiders on message boards and these 17 yo recruits have quite a bit in common...and none have to do with the great game of basketball. Go Illini.

Would you please elaborate a bit more on your two points so that I / we may better understand your position?

There are several posters on this board who deliver what they may when they are able. Much of the content that they share is accurate or reflective of the trends to which they are privy at the time; post histories support this. This is not a blanket defense of everyone claiming to be an insider / have inside information as some simply compile and regurgitate for hype (different conversation). However, to say that posters with a track record of delivering consistent, quality information have nothing to do with the game would be as false as the claim that 17yr old recruits ... those who play the "great game" and populate the college and professional leagues that we enjoy ... are equally as irrelevant to the game of basketball.

If it were all bunk all the time, the insiders to which I am referring would be quickly checked and / or be long gone.

I hope we run out of condiments soon.....SAID NOONE EVER!!

Aioli hope one of our insiders really knows wasabi.

All the more reason to be sweet and sour on posts. Some of the sauces are a bit fishy while others are hot ... we know this. Therefore, it is prudent to salsa through or around the tartar to find the posts that make you say "holy guacamole".

I love our insiders. Keep posting. Your posts are the main reason I am on here. Who cares If the rumor is true or not? That's half the fun of This forum. For those of you that don't like it, don't read the posts. Better yet, quit posting yourself. Go spread your negativity somewhere else. It's time to be excited about Illini basketball again.
