    Illini Baseball 2024

Great weekend for our Winter/Spring sports (Men's anyway) - Baseball sweeps, Tennis sweeps, Golf wins the Illini invite, track team has a successful west coast trip, Gymnastics makes the final 6.

His track record of program building is pretty solid, so not sure we can or should expect him to mess this up

He's not as bad as Zook and Tepper but he does resemble them - GREAT recruiter and widely regarded as a stand up guy. Also regarded as someone who just doesn't have the skill to properly manage a P5 football program.

Completely agree. I've been a fan since the early 70's so I've seen a lot of good and bad football. I've also seen a lot of really bad programs become good programs due to finally getting good leadership - Oregon, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas State, TCU, Cincinnati, Louisville among others. It may...

Calipari has gotten lazy. He used to actually be a decent coach, but he got to the point at which he rolled out the ball and thought that's all he needed to do. I will be shocked if he has any level of success at Arkansas - it's the equivalent of when Kansas hired Les Miles

Izzo was great, but shouldn't be this high today; I'd put him just below BU. Altman should be ahead of BU. If you take into consideration what he is working with, Collins should be in the top 5. We will probably look back at this list 2 years from now and wonder why Sprinkle was rated so low

Competition in league is going to be a lot tougher going forward. Traditional bottom feeders like NW, Nebby and PSU have very good coaches. At minimum, UM and OSU are going to pull a lot of talent and both May and Diebler have shown they can coach. Altman, Cronin, Sprinkle and Muss are darn...

The same Dusty May that turned around a s***hole of a program and coached a mid-major to the Final Four? Not sure why people are so quick to discount him.

Kentucky recruits itself, Florida doesn't. This is nothing like L'Ville and Kenny Payne - Payne had no HC experience; Pope has a pretty solid resume. He will hire very strong assistants and they will be fine; certainly better than they have been lately

Ehhh, Pope has a far better resume than Doherty had. He has a rep for being a very solid coach - this is not a bad hire by any means

Agree - Pearl is a POS, but he's a POS that is a heck of a coach. And he has a big enough personality that he would thrive in Lexington

If Brad gets offered, he's gone. Too many positives, namely $ and the fact it would validate him as an elite coach. Don't underestimate the importance of ego in these types of decisions.

Lefty Driesell had the right thought about Maryland - they really should be the UCLA of the East based on their location right in the middle of the recruiting hotbeds of DC and Baltimore. I think they are fighting the same battle UI football does - based on geography they should be a...
