Nebraska's Fred Hoiberg released from hospital (3/11 Games)

At this point the only reason he's all clear is bc he tested positive for something else. At this point <2% of people known to have coinfection with another respiratory virus. Not impossible but improbable. That's my best guess. ETA: Flu A it appears.

No fans at NCAA Tournament, B1G Tournament

As someone in the medical field, this is the right thing to do. Even if it's an overreaction or done out of an abundance of caution, you don't want to be looking 2 months in the future and wishing you had done differently. As a fan this absolutely sucks. I have earnestly awaited Illinois's...

    Illinois 74, Northwestern 66 POSTGAME

This is probably it. That being said, AG was truly our one offensive weapon in the second half (17/40 pts). We didn't really play great defense down the stretch either (16 pts in 5 minutes given up after Griffin was out). Sometimes coaches can't help themselves. I still think our heads weren't...

    Illinois 74, Northwestern 66 POSTGAME

Great atmosphere at the game (sprang for last minute tickets). We won against an overmatched NU team but it's clear we didn't have our heads in the game. Hope we can turn it on in the remaining games. Also, other than because we were up big, can anyone else think of a reason why Griffin didn't...

He hyperextended first followed by deep flexion. You'll see it on replay.

I'm so sick about Ayo right now. Also. This was not a fake rally. By definition you don't take the lead in a fake rally. This was a real rally where we were winning the game with under 10 seconds left. Hats off to MSU. Too many mistakes early.

    Robert Archibald passes away

RIP Arch. So sad to hear. He was part of the teams that started my Illini basketball fanaticism.

    Maryland 59, Illinois 58 POSTGAME

He was playing very selfish there. Maryland knew he was not going to pass the ball. Love him as an Illini but not his best moments.

    Maryland 59, Illinois 58 POSTGAME

Ineptitude in the half court offense. Giorgi being a very selfish player and never passing. Underwood not calling a TO to setup what should have been the final shot. Kofi wasting the last 5 minutes on bench to save him for what? The last 2 seconds? Refs gifting Maryland 2 FTs with no time left...

Usually in these cases there is an MRI done within a day or two. It just doesn't have to be done emergently because it won't change what needs to be done. In my experience, after the trainers/doctors evaluate the player it's usually up to the player what they want to do. There's no inherent...

While this is true in some sense, physical exam can give you a clear indication of a torn acl, MCL/LCL injuries. That's kind of the key here. Whether he's out a few weeks or a year.

There's not really a benefit of having an MRI in the stadium. MRI's cost millions, need to be staffed full time (in case of emergent need), and are easy enough to get at a hospital. Xrays are different though and many teams have xray capability within stadium.

    Illini Football 2019

Not much advantage to MRI right away if exam is pretty clear cut. If it's a torn ACL he isn't getting surgery tomorrow (need to preop and reduce swelling), and if it's not he's not getting on the field tomorrow either way. There's also an argument to giving it a couple days to reduce swelling to...
