Good speed with power and some wiggle. He can catch the ball. Illinois had better get on this kid. Very impressed with this kid. Six two, two eighteen and he is only going to get bigger and stronger.

If you do not have backup qb's for example who are used properly you have to substitute a qb who cannot pass or run on the Bigten level as the Illini did. There will be a dropoff in most cases, but it should be like dropping off a step ladder not the Sears Tower as was the case when Peters was...

I certainly consider 6-6 to be the team's floor. I don't choose to go the what if route, but I cannot imagine the Illini winning less than 8 games in the 2020 season. I am optimistic that the team won't be so decimated by injury like last year. Hanson, Wole, the two receivers, Beason, etc.... I...

Redbox Bowl Game Thread: Illinois vs Cal

You are right. I have not seen this many bad calls against an Illini sports team since the 78 NCAA tournament basketball game against Kentucky in Lexington Kentucky. That was back when NCAA tourney games could be played at home.

So aggressive we got a fumble recovery, but these Cal refs made the wrong call and no review.

Vederian Lowe made a key block on a safety who could have stopped the touchdown. The big guy pushed the safety back 3 feet and to the ground.

They have helped Cal all day. The Illini have 4 pass interference calls when Cal should have about twenty for example. The DB's are playing like they didn't get sleep last night. The Cal qb is not that good. The Illini DB's and refs are making him look like Drew Brees.

The DB's especially Brown do not seem to know where to be. Brown was totally out of position on the tight end td and let the receiver go free on the long pass when he had no help on that side. Pass interference by Cal on every pass play except the overthrow, even the commentators are pro Cal...

That pass phantom interference was minimal contact, not nearly as sustained and egregious as the one against Illinois in the enzone. Refs are calling differently one end to the other.

I think the Illini OC will frustrate and defeat Cal if they don't play conservative and predictable. I watched a freshman one read, run first quarterback from Arizona do just that against Cal a couple years back. That qb was not nearly as good a passer as IW. Cal fans certainly remember Khalil...

You are right about it has not happened before this season, but I can DREAM that the coaching staff figures it out and does the right thing. A bowl win will do wonders for this team.Maybe they read this post. šŸ˜ Ok not likely.

We still win I think, but the staff should use this opportunity to use Delevon Campbell in BheBhe's position and also use IW to start if Peters doesn't play or to play in substirutions to keep Cal on their toes. Cumby can also be used to catch out of the back field, his speed and Delevon's speed...

First, Merry Christmas to all Illini fans. I understand all the doom and gloom regarding the poor Illinois in state recruiting, but folks this can change and I think it will with success on the field, such as winning the West or atleast fighting to win it coming down to the last game. Illini...

I am not sure where Central Illinois ends in your opinion, but Southern Illinois especially near St Louis has produced some good to great recruits such as Ezekial Elliot, the Iowa DE who was the number one player in Illinois his year and others. These areas always produce a few gems for Power 5...
