    Illini Basketball 2019-2020

Bold prediction: the rebirth of Kipper. He returns to his 2017-18 form and is a solid wing starter going into the B10 conference play, maybe averaging 8ppg and 4rpg.

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (May 2019)

Not concerned about the impact of not having TJ. Very concerned that a year’s worth of recruiting efforts has landed one signed commitment with 3 open scholarships. A signal that recruiting ain’t going so well.

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (May 2019)

Oof. Ayo and Kofi are the only Top 100 kids BU has landed. Groce did better. At this point for the 2019 class, BU is 1 (maybe 2 if Bernard signs) for 60 or 70 offers? Is that a normal ratio for a program? When you add that ratio with last year's exodus, including by players who were...

    Purdue 73, Illinois 56 POSTGAME

Exciting and fun first half. Then with 10 minutes left, the officiating drastically changed. Calls on every possession pushed Purdue ahead and took both teams out of their rhythm. Illinois was called for standing still on defense. B10 officiating is dreadful and can suck the fun out of the...

    Illini Basketball 2018-2019

This team is suffering the exact same problems that last year's team did (fouling, defensive scheme from Ripley's, no half court offensive flow, and getting out rebounded). I haven't noticed any meaningful strategic adjustment by BU (hope am wrong about that).

    Xavier 83, Illinois 74 POSTGAME

Defense has to improve to be competitive. The current pressure scheme doesn’t produce enough turnovers to make up for the easy dribble penetration and free ball movement the other team enjoys. This is especially true without a shot blocker or even enough beef to box out. A bit surprised that...

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (October 2018)

Feels like an 0-for this Fall. BU will need to pull rabbits out of the hat during the Spring again. This is not the way successful recruiting goes.

    Illini Basketball 2018-2019

Well yeah, that’s why Mark Smith never panned out and guys who were guaranteed to be starters still opted to leave the program. BU’s biggest coaching and recruiting problem is the same - inability to relate to or motivate young men.

    2018-2019 Predictions Thread

I expect us to be one of the worst P5 teams. No front court. Freshmen bigs are generally awful. If Kipper gets in foul trouble, then defense will be either fouling or getting beat for layups. Probably the least experienced team in the country. No cohesion given so many newcomers, and late...

    Illini Basketball 2018-2019

Ebo was not talented. His other offer was UIC. He was a fouling machine and couldn't play defense. Maybe he would have improved with age, like many bigs (Mav). The reason his departure stinks is not the loss of his talent, it's scarcity in the frontcourt. If you're starving, and you lose your...

    The Illinois Coaching Search

Not thrilled about Bennett Bennett won't ever compete for national champs. Slow down teams end up in close games because of fewer possessions. To win champs, you have to score 80 ppg. Duke, KY, AZ, UNC, KU, Syra, etc have high possession styles. Slow down ball can be playing not to lose...
