Illinois 78, Nicholls State 70 OT POSTGAME

Not a popular take, but best possible outcome against Nicholls St. Illinois still gets a win but actually had a harsh wakeup call that should dictate better focus/effort against GCU and Arizona. Feliz (BU's named heartbeat of the team) rose up. Still a lot of underclassmen relied upon to...

    Illini Basketball 2019-2020

Not a lot of great individual data from my Underwood contact, but overall sentiment is that 2019/2020 roster is "infectious" and great representative of his brand of basketball. Lots of kids drawn to the culture and recruiting is becoming self-fulfilling. There will be more losses than wins in...

Pregame: Illinois vs Nebraska, Saturday, September 21st, 7:00pm CT, BTN

Very sad when you have to give away free student tickets to fill the student section for Nebraska on a Saturday night. What's next, actually paying students cafeteria $$$ for staying three quarters?

    Illini Basketball 2019-2020

Had recent catchup with my one program "insider" (former collegiate player playing under BU as an assistant from 90's/current HS coach)... BU is pretty high on the effort/attitude/abilities of this team. All of roster are "his guys" (effort/attitude/team-first) whether he recruited them or...

Guys, self-aware geezer here... what is the origin of "Littyville"? What does it mean?

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (January 2019)

Who was the guy that was the mystery poster who did the Chief Illiniwek symbol when someone committed? Land of Lincoln? I miss those "insider" days.....gotta love this board! BU and the staff have it going on. Next year should look a bit different than this one in terms of on-court product...

Game Thread: Illinois vs East Tennessee State

Got to catch up briefly with an Underwood connection this week. BU loves the quality of scheduled opponents and the L's are not as frustrating as the lack of practice time based on 8 games in 20 days. The team didn't really have proper time to address issues that were popping up as they were...

    Georgetown 88, Illinois 80 POSTGAME

I think Underwood believes his best chance is to sacrifice layups for pressure. They won't survive many games with good bigs because they have no interior defense. Otherwise we will be sitting in a zone all game and I don't think that fits his aggressive nature.

    Georgetown 88, Illinois 80 POSTGAME

8 pages in and I can't find any specific for praise for McClung. Along with Ajinko and Pickett, these guys are going to be a load to defend on the perimeter for the Big East all year. And they should only get better. These aren't scrubs. BU has one-ish big (Giorgi/Kipper) and had a strategy...

    Illini Basketball 2018-2019

Sorry, shouldn't have generalized re: turnover to every player that left. And in many cases, one could call it a mutual parting of ways? Most definitely not a deal where the coaching staff was mourning the loss of certain players, let's leave it at that.

    Illini Basketball 2018-2019

After talking to one of Underwood's former players from the 90's, the roster turnover was definitely coaching staff driven. Taking a chance on a guy in his fourth school in 6 years with a torn ACL says a lot about the staff's feelings of the 2017-2018 roster. Onward and upward, let's hope...

Talen Horton-Tucker commits to Iowa State

Hot takes: Good luck to THT, wish him well, he is doing his best in a tough situation. Fans that are mad at the Illini have every right to be, the situation reflects poorly on the school and program. Fans accepting of the process and happy that we got Ayo are ok, too, as dirty pool is all part...

    War Chant has been retired

From a branding standpoint, I would be curious to see what someone outside of the state of Illinois thinks about the UofI football program. - No more Chief - No more War Chant - Uniforms are never the same - No consistent logo - Block I? Shield? Wtf? Not going to wade in on removing...
