Pregame: Illinois vs Michigan, Thursday, January 10th, 7:00pm CT, FS1

Present results would indicate we could say that about most teams we play against.

Par for the course for this athletic department. Always keep a coach 2 or 3 years too long to screw the next guy

It’s Illinois something will always go wrong in the end.

I think 25 years is very generous.

Game Thread: Illinois at Notre Dame

The only positive to the present situation is that virtually all expectations of success are long gone. Watching has become much more stress free in a weird way. I still care but they are so bad it isn’t worth getting mad.

Lovie Smith receives 2-year contract extension through 2023

No idea if this is going to work but Frank Beamer went 24-40-2 in his 1st six seasons. And then won at least 7 every year til he retired. At least that is what I will place my hope in. There was some improvement this year on offense. Maybe a slow build is the thing that finally “fixes”...

    Gonzaga 84, Illinois 78 POSTGAME

Watched the 1st half. Too late to make it to the end. The beginnings of real progress appear to be under way. Will do us favors to have a Chicago kid as one of the faces of the program as program turns around.

Football Coaching Staff / Coaching Carousel Thread

Blaming the fans is just a waste of oxygen. This fan base has been subjected to decades worth of few highlights & mostly garbage. Even the great moments (2001, 2007) are virtually immediately wiped out. Went from Sugar Bowl to a 1 win team in 2 years. This has created a very apathetic fan...

I wanted Babers like 5 years ago. He could have been had and should have never been allowed to leave the state. Program is such a disaster and has been for a long time. Lovie inherited a train wreck but 3 years in the pile of wreckage is getting deeper.

Lou Dorsey no longer with the Illini

Hell with it. It’s time to just go all in on golf and volleyball. Train wreck unfolding at MS

    Purdue 46, Illinois 7 POSTGAME

Today was everything that Illinois football has been since the mid 90’s. Every hint of momentum in the program is followed by a huge turd of a performance. Typically at home.

Pregame: Illinois at Rutgers, Saturday, October 6th, 11:00am CT, BTN

The 4 most winnable games left on schedule define the level of progress imo. Rutgers Purdue Minn and NW are the games that if we can win say 3 of 4 it marks notable progress. 2 is some progress and 1 or 0 is not good. Maybe they can spring an upset somewhere else but these are the type of...

Illinois 31, Kent State 24 POSTGAME

As to the atmosphere, it is very dead in MS these days. Have been to lots of games & seen some really good crowds when the team is good. 2000 vs Michigan (though a crappy ending) was the best sporting event atmosphere I have ever seen. Crowd stood virtually the whole game. The place can rock...
