I wouldn't take it as a knock on UI football. That's just the attitude these days of HS and College football players, free agency and "get to the next level."
Let's go Illini! :illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::illinois::chief::chief::chief::chief::chief::chief::chief::chief::chief:
Talking about 2016-present. Not the distant past, that current recruits are not even old enough to remember. Just showing up and expecting to win national titles due to star rankings, does not cut it. Players need to be taught the right way to execute.
Recruiting can only take teams so far. Eventually, they'll have to go out and execute. Teams are full of 5 and 4 stars that don't win NCs or just flat out suck, Texas, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, LSU, Florida.
California Illini! If Lovie Smith keeps recruiting the Golden State he might end up in the playoffs. We produce the burners and the quarterbacks out here. Welcome Trevon!
Nice guy/words but his teams are consistently blown out. We could hire a girls soccer coach to get trucked every week. Teams don't need 5* talent to have solid fundamentals, discipline, and development. I hope Lovie Smith can bring in some good Assistants, otherwise, I expect more of the same.
No Ohio State. Toughest games look to be Michigan and Michigan State. If Michigan doesn't reach the playoff this year, I bet Hairbaugh's act starts to wear thin in Ann Arbor.
