Yeah, my brother lives in Houston area of Texas and he said the athleticism of those kids is freakish. I heard DFW is even stronger. We need a permanent office down there for recruiting.
Doesn't really bother me, or surprise me, that Tech is getting better recruits right now. They just contended for the title. It's other schools getting the recruits over us that concerns me. I believe Underwood is a great coach on the floor, but not quiet as confident about his recruiting...
They need to take a look at Khalid Thomas. He's the #2 juco trsfr, I believe, and just decommitted from Tx Tech and is now available. Anyone know if we are in play for this guy?
I think that is what separates the good coaches from the great. The ability to spot those small things about a player, like Giorgi, that indicates their potential to be a great player. Not an easy thing to do, but I guess that's why there are so few great coaches.
Hope he didn't have his eye
Good point about the recruiting now. It has definitely changed. You can never tell where a kid will decide to go. Also, I've noticed the transfer market has become a lot hotter than it was in the past.
When will our expectations be more than making the tourny, but to make deep runs in the tourny? We've got too much talent in close proximity to not consistently have those expectations. Just have to find a way to land them.
I agree. Can't imagine him leaving Lubbock. He just beat down Michigan, played in the National Championship game, became the 3rd highest paid coach, and is close to bringing in a top-10 recruiting class. He'd be giving up a LOT just to go to Michigan.
I agree, to some extent. "Selling recruits on the idea that you will win" will only work for so long. You eventually have to actually start winning. It's not an easy thing to convince recruits that you will win, but some coaches are very good at it. I think BU is still in a position where he...
Agree they've got to continue recruiting. That's obvious. They don't have a lot of options but they have to manage best they can with those they have. As far as winning goes, they haven't really "proven that they can win" until they win enough to at least get into the tournament. Even the...
Actually, I see the difference very clearly. We have a coach that is "good" but hasn't been good enough to take mediocre talent we have and overcome competition with better talent. TT has a "great" coach that has taken mediocre talent and crushed the competition that has better talent, so now...
