    St Louis Cardinals 2020 season

The Dodgers, Yankees and at times Cubs, Phillies and BoSox have proven there isn't a true cap if teams are willing to pay the luxury tax. DeWitt has shown time and time again he is not willing.

    Wisconsin 45, Illinois 7 Postgame

Kid, you're not all that old to me. :ROFLMAO: I was watching the 85 game on tv. (Back then one of the local stations in Rockford carried all the football and basketball games.) I was plenty nervous about the game. My wife and I were stunned they pulled it off.

    Wisconsin 45, Illinois 7 Postgame

The Illini wins against OSU did cross my mind when I was posting. I decided while it was sweet indeed, that limited success does not make for a great season by itself.

    Wisconsin 45, Illinois 7 Postgame

I am being outrageously generous and grading on a curve. Fans of tOSU, Michigan, various SEC franchises (and I mean this in the corporate sense), etal would never accept the Ilini results from the 80's as being "the good old days" but that's what we have to work with.

    St Louis Cardinals 2020 season

Can't say yet. If it's another team like we have this year where they float along with their nose just above the slime of mediocrity, why not? They won't be going anywhere in the playoffs so they may as well keep the face of the franchise in the clubhouse. On the other hand if they actually...

    Lou Henson dies at 88

Thanks for the update. It is an interesting story/obit. It's been ages since I played bridge but I would have brushed up if I had a chance to sit at a table with Lou and Mary.

    Angel Hernandez suing MLB

The lawsuit is from 2017 so that part is not news. He is complaining that he has not been assigned to ump a World Series since 2005. He will ump the Dodgers-Padres series so "technically" that makes him eligible for WS consideration. Umps always get barbed for poor calls. With the quality of...

    St Louis Cardinals 2020 season

Gibby and Brock were my childhood heroes. It's been a difficult month losing both of them but I have known their health has been failing for a few years. I'm glad they are not suffering. Back in the 60's I started to follow the Cardinals because of my dad but I stayed because of the great teams...

FIFU. Cards got a huge break by the SD pitching injuries.

    St Louis Cardinals 2020 season

Right. This is sort of a lost year and he will miss all of next season.

    St Louis Cardinals 2020 season

I agree. As frustrating as it is they were 25th in strikeouts as a team but part of it is because they are 30th in AB.

WSCR afternoon drive host Dan McNeil fired

A few excepts from the Daily Herald story. https://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20200916/jim-odonnell-dan-mcneil-just-did-his-business-and-got-fired I didn't realize how much their audience has dropped off.

WSCR afternoon drive host Dan McNeil fired

I stopped listening to the Score years ago. Their shtick grew tiresome. There were a few personalities I liked to listen to but they were few and far between. Laurence Holmes is interesting but I am usually at work when he's on so I don't hear him very often.
