Don’t you think you’re getting carried away?

He’s in line to hit about 240HRs and drive in over 400!

Garbage call by mgr to intentionally walk in 9th.

I was as impressed with his defense and the way he saved the errant throw to get the double play as much as his 3 hrs. Shortening an inning will have a huge effect on the pitching staff.
If I was the Milw manager I probably would have walked him in the 9th too.

What a rough opening stretch. Yelich beat us up. It’s hard to judge at this point but it looks like we will be looking up at the brewers for a long while

Facing them 10 times before the end of April will tell us a lot about where this team stands early on.
Was really hoping for a split out of those first four. Got to attend the lone win on Friday night so that was good but, a couple of other games were in our grasp. Just couldn’t hold on.

I know this seems to be the way game is going but, how many runs did we score that weren’t on home runs? I believe there were a couple Friday night. Would really like to see us string more hits together to generate some offense and not have to rely on the home run so much.

I totally agree. I thought with the new blood as hitting coaches the team was moving away from launch angle and focus more on line drives. Too bad they did hit a few shots that were caught. They are 3rd in striking out the most. That's terrible.

While most of the blame for yesterday's collapse can be placed on Millers soft shoulders, Osuna gets a dishonorable mention for merely jogging after the fly ball that Shaw hit. An outfielder has to know when the shift is on they are required to cover more territory. It was a lazy fly ball. Maybe he wouldn't have reached it in time but he didn't even try. It's interesting to see that 3 of the 4 hits that scored Milwaukee runs were hit to Ozuna. But he is a "gold glove" LF.

That stupid field plays the size of a little league field when the roof is closed. And Yelich is apparently unstoppable for the time being. Hudson and Mikolas ran into some bad flyball luck, it happens.

And if the Cardinals want to hit more homeruns this year I'd be fine with it. Stringing hits together is overrated, there's 3 guys that will probably hit 30 hrs on the team (Goldy, DeJong, and Carpenter) with like 3 more that could with more playing time (O'neil, Jose Martinez, Ozuna). HRs are the 3 point shot revolution of the NBA, they aren't going away because it's the most efficient way to score runs.

But yea, they play the Brewers 10 times before the end of April. Just split with them and they'll be fine.

When can we move on from Fowler?
100 PAs from now, probably. He hasn't looked completely lost like last year, getting on base and taking good at bats, but it's only been a few games and even his ceiling is probably not as good as Jose Martinez or O'Neil full time.

I was thinking it would take at least until middle-end May. After so few games his OBA is a respectable .417 which is 3rd on the team for players who have 5 or more plate appearances. So he's at least seeing the ball better than last year. His avg is still terrible by anyone's standards even Mendoza's.

And he isn't making hard contact often.

I was thinking end of April, early May, so essentially the same. I think the standings may have something to do with it. If the team is hanging around with a winning record, close to the top of the division, they can have more patience. IF he is playing good defense and keeps his OBP high, he is an asset. If not, O'Neil and Martinez get a lot more opportunity.

Tomorrow's game (Opening Day) already postponed until Friday. That's why most of the teams leave the day after OD as a day off.

I’m really proud of our guys keeping their cool. DeJong’s homer was nice but I really loved the lead off walk plus Bader homer

Yeah. Two tough wins in Pittsburgh. Hoping for a great seven game home stand against the Padres and Dodgers before heading to Monterrey, Mexico vs. Cincinnati and then back to Milwaukee.

I thought about going to the Mexico games just to see what it would be like.

I was really impressed with Adam’s start today. He was the Waino if old, a lot of movement and a little heat from time to time. Nice mix of pitches. We could use a little more of that. Great win overall. Kolten’s bunt and over the shoulder catch were serious highlights.

3 dodgers have been hit by pitch tonight. Not 1 of them made any effort to get out of the way. 2 of them were grazed on their elbow pad. Thought rule was they had to make an attempt to get out of the way?

That is the rule but refs never call it unless the batter is leaning into the ball when it's over the plate. I absolutely hate the rule. Anyone wearing armor should be exempt for the HBP rule. Rizzo is always among the league leaders in HBP. At least he doesn't wear all the extra guards when he leans in to the pitch. He does crowd the plate.

I was listening to a colorado broadcast last year and they were even commenting how Rizzo seems to crowd the plate. The color guy jokingly said they should give an award to the guy who takes the most pitches...then he said that Rizzo would win it every year. He is notorious all over the league for this.
