NHL playoff hockey is always good, but I really think some of these opening round matchups are going to be interesting. Islanders-Penguins and Jets-Blues are going to be great.

I still can't stand Mike Smith for when he did backflips against the Hawks several years back (2010-2011?). I hope he chokes hard.

Though I would miss the wonderful mustache that Sam Bennett has going on right now.

Can CBJ pull it off tonight?

Also, good god, the Bruins and Leafs are like a game away from bringing shivs out on the ice

Lightning are first President's Trophy winner to be swept in first round. They're first President's Trophy winner to be swept in any round since the Red Wings in the 1995 Cup final vs. the Devils.

I love Panarin, but have no interest in being back in cap hell. Yes, we absolutely can afford him, but we'll hit the iceberg next year, when Cat and Strome need new contracts.
Wont we be in "cap hell" after signing those two too? I would agree, if the argument is Panarin for 5 years or both those guys for 5, but I'm not sure the latter is possible, though I don't know the exact numbers.

Either way I think Bowman will get out bid on Panarin.

We won't be in cap hell, provided Bowman is judicious in the upcoming UFA market. Hawks are ~$20M under the cap, IIRC. Figure $5.5M and $8M for Strome and Cat. There are moves Bowman can make to get further under (e.g. shed Anisimov, LTIR Seabs).

Well...shoot.

Blues-Jets Game 5 is Thursday night at 7:30 PM with the game airing on USA.

Still a lot of hockey left, but man does this series feel way different than it did 3 days ago. To take the first two on the road and then lay eggs at home is brutal. Hopefully the road team winning trend continues.
