Re: MillerCoors moves to Chicago; AB sold to InBev

Does it take like beer still or is it more like the Smirnoff Ice stuff?
Nah, it still retains the beer flavor. Like drinking a Corona. Good stuff. All the discussion about beer, i had to go out after work and restock my fridge. Try it JP, let me know what ya think. I like it, nothing like Smirnoff.

I have to restock as well, I'll get my usually case of 312 and check out the BL Lime.

Hey, anyone try the Budlight lime. Im not a Bud fan but BL lime is good stuff.

I'd love to try it sometime, but I attempted to make my own once with keystone, lime juice and salt, well needless to say, I won't be mixing lime and beer for while now. I love Corona, and drink it without the lime these days.

*Edit: I felt like a major dumb a$$ the next morning for evening thinking it would be a good idea.

Maybe your problem was the Keystone and not the lime. :D I tried playing beer pong with Keystone once, stuff is like motor oil, its on the Ice House level.

Well you see, Keystone, and let's make it relevant here, its made by Coors, I think, was always my cheap beer of choice, so much so that senior year I made a very large beeramid of Keystone cans in my apartment, I'd try the BL Lime, seeing as how they are much smarter than me in their chemistry.

Ahh, see, you have the stomach for it then. My cheap beer of choice has always been Schlitz. That stuff is . . . wow :)

No doubt its a good beer.

You guys were talking about the 312, that was my drink of choice during many football games this year whilst watching them at Rock's.

Also I like to go half Leinie's Berryweis and half Honeyweis, its a god mix. I love this kind of thread, beer and me are like McCartney and Lennon, or Sonny and Cher, or other great duos, such as Batman and Robin.

I've never had one of them. but my dad said they are good. you ever had beer in an aluminum(sp?) bottle? after cardinals won world series in 2006, dad got 12 bud light bottles that were aluminum and red and blue, with 2006 world series champions on the bottles. I drank a couple of them, and so did he. they were pretty good. much colder than a glass bottle. then he kept the rest of them as collectors items.

I have no idea where I got it, cause I sure don't remember getting it, but I have a bud light bottle that has Illini 1989 final four team on it. it has the record of every game they played that season and the results on it.

I must say thank God for bud light, cause I sure needed it last 2 nights after I worked. our whole freaking floor at the hospital(transitional care floor) is going freaking nuts. pt. who thinks the trash can is a toliet(also thank God for hospitals having housekeepers and us not having to clean that up) couple pts. who want to try to wander down the hall, to elevators and down to first floor. pt who thinks its great fun to pound on the bed rails. pt. who thinks its great fun to pull out IV and tie the tubing in a knot around the rails. so yeah thank God for bud light.

I could never work in a nursing home. most of them I have seen are usually not very good. they could call 911, you get there, and first aide you see has no idea why you are there and what pt. we were supposed to transport. so you had to wander around and find someone who knew where you were supposed to go. then the aides were useless. ask them to take the blanket and sheet off the ambulance stretcher and they looked at you like ummm how do I do that? our hospital has a long term care wing, that is like a nursing home. but medicaid wont pay for it, so they have to pay it all themselves, 110 dollars a day. so the ones on it are people who can usually take care of themselves, cause if they couldnt, 110 dollars a day is a lot when the person cant do anything and could be in nursing home with medicaid paying all of it.

I do like working on the transitional care wing, and few times have got to use paramedic knowledge when pts. have fallen down and broke their hip or arm or something. I'd rather be on med/surg floor, but only opening they have now is day shift, and I dont do day shift, I dont do mornings. so I shall stick to my rotating evenings/nights and hope med/surg has a night opening sometime.

Bell's is back!

http://chicagoist.com/2008/07/31/its_morning_in_chicago_bells_is_bac.php

We'd been hearing rumors about Bell's coming back to Chicago almost from the moment they launched the Kalamazoo line last autumn. Local media were sent a press release this morning making the rumors official. Bell's has struck distribution agreements with the three wholesalers they currently use to market the Kalamazoo line.

We spoke with Larry Bell by phone this morning. While Bell downplayed the recent acquisition of Union Beverage by Judge & Dolph as the removal of the final roadblock for Bell's to return to Chicago, Bell did say that the brewery's current relationships with Skokie Valley Beverage Company, Central Beverage Company and Schamberger Brothers have been very fruitful to date. Expect to see Bell's Amber, Porter, Oberon and Kalamazoo stout back on shelves and taps almost immediately.

As for what this means for the Kalamazoo line, Bell said that it will be phased out. "There are limited supplies left and we'll just stop making it once the stock runs out." However, don't expect every Bell's label to be back on shelves. There is a major hop shortage right now that's affecting brewers both large and small. That shortage means that Bell's popular Two-Hearted IPA will not be in the initial rollout. "But we have enough labels here that we could possibly do another version of Hop Solution," Bell said.

Re: The Beer Thread

I had a bud light lime today. I can't say I was that impressed by it. I could just barely taste the lime, and not enough to think its much different than just a regular bud light. I'm not a big fan of beer anyway. bud light is really only beer I don't mind to drink. I prefer mixed drinks(jack and coke has to be my favorite), or wine coolers.

Please tell me you've tried other beer besides Bud Light, Miller Light, etc. If that's all you've had, then no, you wouldn't be a fan of beer.

yes I have had other beers. thats what I meant by bud light is the only beer I dont mind to drink. in high school and college I used to like MGD, and a friend of mine then really liked it. so anytime some of us would go out and drink would often have some MGD. then that good friend was killed by a drunk driver, and since then I've never cared for MGD.

not beer, but I think some jack and coke's at the casino boat in Metropolis, IL have my name on them next weekend when me and amy go down to that boat. of course its always fun to go up to the bar with your spouse or date and tell bartender you want a "screaming orgasm" or a "sex on the beach" drink.

Aha! I'm a fan of Wachusett Blueberry Ale myself; I recommend you check it out while you're (apparently) in Maine.
I've tried the Blue Creek Blueberry Ale. Also not bad.

I'm a fan of porters and stouts, myself. Dark Lord Imperial Stout being one of my all-time faves. Founder's Kentucky Bourbon Stout also ranks very high on my list of great beers I've had. As for porters, I'm a fan of the Sinebrikov baltic porter, Old Slug, and Santa's Butt... I also have a place in my heart for a good oatmeal or milk stout. Mmmmm.

On the lighter side, Morland's Old Speckled Hen is delicious and refreshing. I also like a lot of the Polish (yeah!), Czech, and German lagers. Tyskie, Zywic, and Okocim are good polish ones. Staropramen, Budweiser Budvar, and Ostravar are pretty good Czech ones. Weihenstephaner, DAB, and Warsteiner are some of the better German ones. If you want a good quality belgian style light ale go for a Kwak.

Anyway, I could talk beers all day. One of my favorite things.
