Bullpen is 1 for 1 post-Strop. We need a few blowouts to mitigate the impact of the loss, though.

Let's get some RUUUUUUUUUNS!!!!

Glad to see that the makeshift bullpen held the Reds to 0 runs. You're right on the spot, let's get some darn runs and have a nice, boring blowout victory!

Back to a 2.5 game lead after the Milwaukee loss tonight. Looks like the magic number for division title is 12 (for playoffs it would be 9) with 14 games remaining.

Cardinals on the outside looking in right now. Mil and Col are the WC teams.

Tough loss today. Where has the offense gone? Hopefully the elevation at Arizona will help the bats wake up.

Brewers lose again; magic number down to 11.

Sounds ridiculous. Obviously not the norm, but on average how many rest days do teams get? It's about 1 a week isn't it?

Yes. They usually have Monday or Thursday off.

The League specifically started the season a week earlier this year to allow for 5 more off days during the season. The early season weather (and the numbnuts who did the scheduling, not giving more early season games to southern and dome teams) essentially made the change in schedule the opposite of what was intended and gave the Cubs fewer off days throughout the season.

If there is never another night game scheduled at Wrigley during April ever again, that would be fine with me.

Except the southern/dome teams don't want mid-week games in April. No team does. Unless, of course, MLB will give them some cash to make up the difference from a summer game. Just bad luck with the number of rainouts MLB had this year.

I can't recall being more excited for a Cubs off-day (this Thursday) in a long time. It's eerily similar to feeling behind the "rain-out" scene in Bull Durham.

If they can take 2 of 3 from Arizona before their day of rest, I'll be ecstatic.
-Hendricks versus Corbin tonight.
-Montgomery versus TBD tomorrow.
-Hamels versus Ray Wednesday.

Certainly. And it’s something that we can add to the huge pile of things that the MLB and MLBPA have to figure out in the next collective bargaining agreement, because what the Cubs have had to do this season has been completely unacceptable.

Thats one of those games that gets you excited for the playoff race. KB homers for the first time in a long time, Javy continues to be amazing, and a starter barely misses going the distance. All that against a good starter and a good team.

Morrow back this weekend, Heyward just activated. Insert Hannibal I love it when a plan comes together gif.
