In watching them beat us they seemed to go at 45 rpm rather than 78. But they still consistently beat us of the dribble and pulled up for made shots. I kinda factored in that we pretty much stink at D. Maybe with more sample size I'd see the athleticism better.

With Northwestern's foul trouble, we had our hands on their throat in the first half, but didn't squeeze.

NU has played horribly and is only down 3. Reason for concern, IMO.
TJL's one on one defense is really, really solid.
And the Illini has been horrible on offense and still up 3. Reason to be optimistic....
We've also shot quite poorly and are winning. Our defense has been a cause for hope so far tonight.

This opening 4 minute stretch where we couldn't get any separation is gonna come back to bite us.
Kipper Nichols needs to be on the floor more.
Black has been good today. Hill is struggling. NW has the type of defenders that give Hill fits. Hopefully he can figure it our.
Nice steal and strong take to the bucket there by TJL. If he uses his left for the shot rather than his right, though, it's an and-one.

How does the ref on the opposite side of the court overrule the ref who was right in front of the play. That was unbelievably bad. Been a very poorly officiated game all around.
TJL looking good again. If he straightens out his FTs he will have a well rounded offensive game.
