Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't their stats almost exactly the same before Mike went down last year?I like Mike Epstein a lot, and agree he's a good complement to Corbin, but Corbin averaged over 1.5 yards per carry more than Epstein. That's almost 24% more than Epstein. To me, that's not close.
Brown averaged 10 yards per carry, so if you want to just cherry pick stats...I like Mike Epstein a lot, and agree he's a good complement to Corbin, but Corbin averaged over 1.5 yards per carry more than Epstein. That's almost 24% more than Epstein. To me, that's not close.

I agree, our key (critical to success) player is a different question than our best player. Defensive improvement is key to taking the next step, and if Bobby hadn’t endured the tragic accident earlier this year, he would also be my pick for our best player. Might as well add a second question for the board, which new player (freshman or transfer) does everyone believe will have the biggest impact on this team next year?Read these posts reminds me of how hurt we were last year. Man, we were a skeleton crew toward the end of the season. If we can stay healthy this year, I bet we will be more competitive. We are gonna have to thump someone before we get any respect.
I think Corbin and Hayes are the best individual players on the team but may not be the most critical for our success. That honor would fall on the entire defensive line.
Robert had a good take..we have lbs that can tackle but not cover, some that cover that are converted dbs that may not be able to tackle..if that is not fixed along with decent dl play, we will not improve enough to get to bowl. I think dbs will be pretty good...but no db can cover in perpetuity
Next year? I am assuming you mean this upcoming season. Freshman will be Beason, overall newbie goes to Trevon Sydney. I think he is going to lead the team in catches and yards.which new player (freshman or transfer) does everyone believe will have the biggest impact on this team next year?
Before the Wisconsin game, during which Epstein got hurt and Corbin ran really well, Corbin had 87 more yards on 7 more touches and averaged 0.6 yards more per carry (just under 9% better than Epstein's average). Closer, but not nearly the same. After the Wisconsin game, Corbin had 173 more yards on 14 more touches, and averaged just over a yard more per carry than Epstein. And don't get me wrong, I still think Epstein is a really good back.Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't their stats almost exactly the same before Mike went down last year?
I have my cup on, but for some reason I have a feeling it will be ok with rest. This is not good. Prepare for the worst.
He's back on the field already. If it was very serious they wouldn't even have him out there.
