Illinois 67, Indiana 66 POSTGAME

"we're not out of it yet, and, there's uh, we are in the last week of the season. And I feel, I feel great about that." Brad Underwood, Post game interview.

I feel great about that too...

"We got some of the smartest fans" Brad Underwood, Post game interview.

Thanks Coach.
He hasn’t been keeping up on this post or he would have benched DaMonte And Giorgi and started Tevian.

Yeah...if you watched the Mizzou game....you would definitely thi k we were a bubble team or worst.
Oh I’ve watched every game, & we didn’t look great early in the year, but how we have beat Purdue & Michigan twice and have better record overall and in the Big Ten and they are significantly above us in KenPom is nuts. Straight statistics models can lie.

I hate the guy, but he had a right to not go to Illinois this is America. At this point to throw that kind of salt in the wound just shows the low character person he is. Why not just say “need this one for my Hoosiers - always good to beat the Illini”. Why grind it in our face? Seems like one of those “glory day” type of guys. Dude your not going to your HS prom this weekend :)

I'm just glad to hear that booing him had such a lasting psychological effect on him and that I contributed in some way to it.

I finally watched the highlights......after watching the game live. A couple of things strike me about this team.

a) nice team chemistry. these guys are having a lot of fun playing together. Our most successful teams --- starting with the 1984 Douglas/Altenberger/Winters Elite Eight squad --- had similar chemistry. T

b) this was our premiere recruiting game over probably the past 15 years and we treated the recruits to a an exciting home court victory, in front of a sell-out crowd, to stay in contention for the Big 10 title. This game will pay dividends for Brad and crew.

c) if anyone other than Brad was coaching this team, we'd have to be worried about losing him to one of the ELITE ELITE programs or the NBA at some point in the near future. (See Kruger and Self). However, I truly believe that he considers Champaign his final destination.

Great point on (c) there Kiwane! Wood fell in love with Illinois when he was at WIU in the early 2000s. He's right, this is a place that you can win big and the fans will be there for you.

Hadn't seen it mentioned...

Phinessie (sp) fell because his left foot got tangled up with Fraizer's right foot. Probably a tough thing to see for a ref, but it's probably a foul.

Disagree, I think Frazier's foot was on the floor and Phinesse stepped on it. That's not a foul.

BTW, I checked the replay again and was correct, Frazier's foot was firmly on the floor when Phinesse stepped acrossed his and fell.

Did not see the game. Anybody have to count of number of missed bunnies? From what I have been reading here, it was not a problem for us in this game.

Watch it at 3:15 at .25 speed.

He has his foot planted about to push off, then Frazier came up to make sure he didn't go left. Frazier's foot accidentally planted in front of Phinese. Frazier's placement make Phinese go right and he was then tripped up because of Frazier's foot.

(Looks like you can't do .25 speed in the forum view, but you still might be able to see it. Or go to actual YouTube)

Frazier looked to have his foot on the floor, but in slow speed maybe not, I haven't checked. In any case, I think at game speed it looks like Frazier's foot is on the floor and Phinesee then trips over it. I guess what I'm saying is that it's sure hard to say that was a bad call by the ref.

Frazier stuck his foot way out right before the guy moved -- gotta say that should've been a foul. But Dosunmu had gotten hammered too, refs letting them play at the end.

I liked a play by Frazier although he missed the shot, he was pressuring D with ball like he was going to pass and stepped back for a three...I hope that is something he is working on...could bre a future dagger. I also liked a play where it was Ayo pushing the ball on a break and it was 1 on 3 maybe and rather than back out kept pressure on while Illini Offense attacked cutting lanes and set in shooting postions...this keep defense from getting a breather and setting up/changing, (secondary break?) It shows the team is continuing to develop the things that can beat good teams. Of course Kofi, Dre, Griffin and Ayo were excellent and role players defining and improving on their roles. Looking good on Brad, staff and Illini basketball ! Go Illini beat the browneyes !!!

Phinessie dove on top of Frazier who had possession of the ball. Also probably a foul.

Do you mean Feliz?

If that's what you mean, then I'd suggest the play got that way beginning with this incidental trip.

But, I digress. I'm just pointing out that the Illini got away with one a bit.

Both players had their feet planted outside their body and then Phinesse tripped over TF's when he made his move. To say TF tripped him is not accurate. To say Phinesee tripped over his foot is correct. Refs often call that when driving, but out in the open court - its a tough call. Glad it didn't decide the game. If we're getting technical Phinesee also hopped and traveled just after receiving the ball.

IU fans think TF came from the grassy knoll, lifted his foot and hooked his ankle.

I just watched it again looking for that travel, his foot that he eventually tripped over never left the ground.

There didn't seem to be any intent where Fraziers foot ended up, but Phinesses foot was there first. Not sure that it matters though.

He hasn’t been keeping up on this post or he would have benched DaMonte And Giorgi and started Tevian.
Can't back off Tevian no matter what can you? Did he do something to you personally or are you just a great fan? Get upset when some one says something bad about one of your favorites though.

Actually I like Tevian but respect the guys who have performed and haven’t seen anything from him to deserve benching others. Would have loved to see him as Giorgi’s backup as greatly needed but trust our coaches more than the posters.

The photos of normal games (or orange outs) are much more intimidating IMO. The striping is cool for a game or two (I think it's much more impressive looking in football stadiums, Iowa kills theres every year).

Agreed! The stripes are good for an arial photo, but not so much for anything else.
